I don't know if you three are interested, but the Palazzo Cancelleria, not often open to the public, is having a Leonardo exhibit
http://www.mostradileonardo.com/
that seems to be open every day.

I have just put it on my calendar for the morning of the GTG as it is just around the corner from our apartment.

Thank you for this link, Debra. We'll check it out. I haven't really started looking at what's going on in Rome while we are there, guess I should start.

Thanks, Debra. I'd love to go inside the Palazzo Cancelleria, so maybe I'll try the exhibit. If it works out that I want to go that morning, I'll get in touch.

We leave Wednesday.
The weather is unusual, so I am watching a site or two before packing. We have been in Rome/Florence 3 times in late October and it has always been pleasantly warm.
This year the weather websites indicate some really cold nights and not so warm days.

No news from Tony so it's just 5 for Armandos? I have internet and computer in the apartment, if Tony contacts one of you let me know.
I will reserve for Monday, the 26th, a few days ahead.

Safe and uneventful flights to all.
See you in Rome.

Hi Debra

I'm thinking that if you haven't heard from Tony by the end of the day, you should go ahead and make reservations for the five of us. It's getting close!

Marian,
The restaurant is closed this evening and tomorrow so I will do it this afternoon. We are headed to Palazzo Massimo and Palazzo Altemps and will swing by and put in a reservation for Monday for 5 at 1:00.
If Tony is coming maybe he can contact them directly and add numbers.
Res. will be under Jacobs.

How was Ditirambo? Wish we'd known. We were so tired after a long long day between the Casino with the Caravaggio wall painting, the quartiere Coppede and the Villa Torlonia, oh and a fabulous lunch, we just sat out on the Cafe Farnese with a drink and snacks.

ciao

Debra, Jerry, Wendy, Rob and I GTG'd at Armando del Pantheon as planned. Great fun, we talked and talked and talked. And ate! Food was very good, service --- maybe a bit peremptory. I had excellent spaghetti cacio e pepe. Others said theirs was excellent too.

Then, as it was already way past three --- we continued to gab outside the restaurant ---- we headed up the street to S. Luigi dei Francesi. This beautiful church, near Piazza S. Eustachio is home to a chapel with three paintings by Caravaggio, episodes in the life of S. Matthew.

Nice!

It was indeed, a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Good food, good company and Caravaggio. What more could one ask?

So it's a week since I've left Rome. Seems like yesterday, seems like a lifetime ago.

Meeting ST friends and making new ones was a highlight.

Ci sentiamo.

Ciao, we are now home and as said, it does seem just like yesterday. I will now go and post the few pictures that are on my camera.

Thank you for meeting up with us. We really enjoyed meeting you Debra and Jerry and hope to see you again closer to home. Jerry, Rob really enjoyed his time talking with you.

Debra, thank you for sharing your knowledge about the Caravaggio's. We both took some nice images and maybe they will make in to our alubum. If not, they certainly will be on both of our slideshows - on our computers.

Marian, it was a pleasure to be with you, again. We will certainly miss you this next year here in Calif., and we both hope you might change your mind and come out this way.

Ah, jetlag ....

A pleasure seeing you as well! But I've learned from experience that I'm happiest at the kind of GTG we had in Rome: small, a chance to sit and chat, no organization to speak of except a venue for lunch or dinner. Top Chef Pizza IceCream Wine

Hey guys, why not come to the NY Metro area?

I was just telling Robert the same thing. Over the years we have had many individual gtg's with other posters, and they were all wonderful, as was this small gathering.

And I Heart Manhattan.

I just found this posting for the first time. I had turned off all my ST notifications and I can't figure out how to re-activate them. I am finding all sorts of things posted for us I am only just now finding. What else have I missed.

Deb, you mentioned Robert and I panicked thinking I got your husbands name wrong, then I realized you were talking of Robert from SM - who some day I will meet, especially now I know the real location of the store.

I agree with both of you about small gtg's. I like the larger groups too, but this was really a lovely day spent with new and old friends. A very nice pace.

Remember, you could always come this way and we can be quiet. Quiet is good.
