I'm going to try to make it, too. Was in Italy last week and hadn't seen the thread, but Ellen PM'd me about it. I'm tired and on Italian time (been up since 4am) but am planning on being there. Smile

Just got back from the first of what I hope will be many ST GTGs. Very much enjoyed meeting and getting to know everyone in the group. Sorry I had to run off quickly at the end, but I'm glad I did as I just beat my boss back to the office by a matter of minutes! Nothing quite like playing hooky and NOT getting caught! Take care everyone!

Yes, the GTG was very nice. I got to meet Daniel, Jan (jgk) and Ken. Judy and Bill and I had met for a nice leisurely dinner on Sunday, and it was nice to see them again. Also Deborah, between trips to Italy. And of course my NJ pals Ellen and Kim.

Our waitress took a photo with Judy's camera, and I guess she will post it when she returns home to California.

Thanks, Daniel, for organizing this.

How can we find out who in the Minneapolis-St Paul, MN area would love to GTG!!! It would be such fun to meet some of the Upper Midwesterners who have SlowTrav roots.

I just got home from a long, long, long day at work and wanted to say hi and how glad I am that everyone got a chance to meet up today. I was thinking of you all!

I hope somebody had something with custard...

Start a new thread with a title saying you want to organize something in Minneapolis and see if anyone replies. I am not sure if we have many people in that area.

I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the GTG. Thanks to Daniel for being the point man and to everyone else for showing up. (except stella Frown we missed you) I ate an almond brioche which was devine but the true highlight was the company.

It was such fun meeting some of you in New York on Tuesday! Bill and I had a great time. Thanks to Jan for suggesting a gathering, and to Daniel for organizing it for us. With a little luck, I am attaching the photo taken by our lovely waitress (wait person); left to right, clockwise: Ken, Jan, Marian, Judy (motherjudy), Deborah (ShopAround), Bill, Kim, Ellen, and Daniel.

And on Saturday we party in Sonoma with Gloria and Diva!

Thanks for the photo, Judy! Nice grouop, isn't it?

(And as Jan noted, Kim, Ellen and Deborah coordinated nicely with the Fauchon decor. Happy)

Very nice group, indeed. And I just re-read my post, and realized it doesn't say what I meant it to! (a frequent problem of mine). I enjoyed meeting EVERYONE who was at the GTG; and it was great finally having an opportunity to meet SOME of the many Slow Travelers I've been getting to know virtually.

I think I'll stop now -- I just seem to keep making it worse.
