I'm doing a low key trip to see family and friends, but I also want to try Dino's. Anyone interested? Weekends are not good because of family responsibilities.

Great! Will we plan something maybe the 12th so Chiocciola could come? I have a cookery interest friend who would like to come as well. Perhaps my daughter and/or my hostess. DD is not too likely as she is very shy.

12th or 13th would work for me.

The 12th probably is better for me. As the week progresses, the more chaotic things are, and less likely I can make it.

12th is best, then, because I think I have to reserve the 13th for weeping and complaining and snapping we always seem to do when departures are imminent.

I don't know how early is early in DC now? How early can Chiocciola arrive? I will be in very nearby Chevy Chase, so any time is fine I think. If my hostess wanted to come it would have to be after her work, and she is usually coming in from the Metro at about 7.

Early here is a lot later, I think.

I was thinking about 6:00. Chiocciola? Can you make it by then? But by all means don't have my time constraints interfere with anyone else's desires, Judith; I can deal one way or the other!

I can be there by 6:20 or 6:30, but feel free to start with drinks or appetizers before that!

Are they actually open then? Can we compromise on 6:30 perhaps?

6:30 it is! BTW they open at 6. Judith, you've been in Italy for a long time!

Maybe parking will be a bit easier than during Inauguration Week (the last time I was at Dino's)...I can hope.

Actually if you get there just at 6:30 pm, you should be able to find parking at a metered space close to the restaurant. Rush hour parking restrictions end at 6:30 pm. If you can't find parking in the closest blocks to the restaurant, you can usually find spaces on either side of Connecticut Avenue if you go a block or two north of Porter Street.

Trying to park on the streets in back of the restaurant usually is a fruitless exercise in my experience.

Good luck.....

I think I will be coming via Metro. Isn't that location very Metro friendly? I sort of remember a restaurant that was there before Dino's.
Yes, I have been away over 8 years and going back is very scary. I am missing a bunch of pop culture and new habitual behaviors.

The Cleveland Park Metro station is a half block away from Dino. If you're staying in Chevy Chase, then you're 3 stops away on the Red Line.

I am just posting to say that I am here in DC, dazzled by retail and ready to dine 12th May with you and a couple of other friends who should know Dino's. I am looking forward to it!

Well, if yesterday at work is any indication of what today holds, then don't wait for me. Frown If I'm not there by 6:45, then assume I can't make it.

I am so sorry I couldn't make it. Yesterday was even worse than the day before...and I hope the pattern doesn't repeat itself today. Did Chiocciola come? I hope you had a great meal at Dino. I was looking forward to meeting you, Judith. Again, Frown

Vicky

OMG I am so sorry! I completely forgot! Frown I am so embarrassed! I got home late Monday, worked 12 hours yesterday and crashed in bed at 8pm. Haven't been on the forum at all for the last two weeks so this completely left my mind.

There is nothing I dislike more than being stood up so I feel awful, Judith, especially since you had such few days in DC. Please accept my apologies.

It might have been embarrassing if I'd made a reservation, but I didn't so all was not lost. Anyway, you all know where to find me.
