Okay all you Bostonians, we're coming up there on the 20th so Chris can run in the marathon on Monday the 21st.

Who wants to meet in the North End (ColleenK, that's the correct place, right?) for dinner on Sunday night?

Check in here and let us know!

Yup, it's the North End. I was thinking that Taranta restaurant would be a good choice. My group of 8 friends who ate there recently, all loved the food (and we are a picky group Wink), the staff was great, prices are moderate and it's a casual spot in the historic North End.
I think the marathon runner should pick the time to meet, as I imagine he will need a good night's sleep before the big event. I'm also leaving for Puglia the next day so early is good for me too!
Once we have the number of people who would like to join us and a time preference, I'll be happy to make a reservation. Better sooner than later as that's a busy weekend in Boston!
Another GTG to look forward to-yipee. Big Grin

Taranta looks great, Colleen. Count us in (Mike and me). I see they open at 5:30 for dinner, and that time would be fine with us.

I've been wanting to join all of you New Englanders for a GTG sometime, but unfortunately it won't be this time Frown . I'll be having a lot of out-of-town guests with us for the Passover holiday. I will stay tuned, though, and try to join y'all (remnants of Savannah) for the next one. Have a great time, everyone, and GO CHRIS!

Next time Terry! The timing of this year's Boston Marathon is not great for those that observe Passover for sure.
I also wanted to ammend my statement that Taranta is moderately priced. It is if you stick to the pasta. The portions are huge (I took half of mine home last time, so good for carb loading) and they do great family style appetizers, allowing you to test all of their great appetizers.

I'll check with Chris and will let you know - I think 6:30 will probably work but will double check. He already commented, "don't be mad if I don't stay late," to which I replied, "As long as you're not mad if I do." Big Grin so we have an understanding but definitely the early side will be better.

Okay - checked with Chris and he said 6:30 or even 7:00 would be fine if that's okay with y'all Wink.

I think we might have a better chance for a group to get seated at 6:30 pm than 7. Let's see who else may be around on that Holiday weekend.

Maybe we need to send out some PMs in case local people haven't noticed this thread, as the time is fairly close.

I went ahead and made the reservation for 8 people at 6:30 on the 20th at Taranta because as Roz says, time is getting short and it will be a busy weekend in Boston. He wanted to give me a 5:30 or 8 pm reservation but I pleaded the case of marathon runners and he relented. We now have 7 people so have room for 1 more. I know many people have Passover seders to attend but we'll be sure to take pictures of the carb loading!

I'm sorry we didn't see this earlier. We've been wanting to try Taranta, too, but I know it can be hard to get in. If we're too late for the group reservation, maybe we can make a separate res for two and we can still see everyone and chat. Open Table shows availability for small parties.

Hello again. I thought it best to grab extra seats just in case, so I made an Open Table reservation for 4 at 6:30. That way, Colleen, you won't have to keep calling to see about making changes and we'll still have extra room if more can join in. Hopefully, we can get tables close together. Smile

April Fool whoo hoo!! Great! thank goodness you grabbed that extra table Bill!! Suzanne, my angel, it will be great seeing you again. (You know, we never discussed your geocaching....if you'd had it with you in Savannah maybe we'd have found me a cane a little sooner) Wink Grin

See you on the 20th.

Good thinking Bill- I'm so glad you'all and Suzanne can make it! When it gets closer to the date, I can call and see if they can seat us either together or at least near each other. Sounds like we have 2 seats open at this point. Looking forward to it!

We're really glad to hear that you can attend, Maureen..!

We've cleared out most of one of the closets downstairs...I'd estimate we can take at least five or six jackets, twelve or thirteen sweaters and a few pairs of winter boots. Wink

Me too! Big Grin It's been way too long. A local STGTG is a great antidote for my Savannah "home sickness". Smile

Jumping in here at the last minute. I would love to join the group. Can I fill in the "one" at the table of eight?

The location sounds great, I can arrive with Maureen and stay 'till the party is over.

A presto,

Rita

Great Rita! If Lino's around I'm sure we can ask for 1 more spot. I'm looking forward to seeing my fellow slow travelers who can really understand my excitement about leaving for Puglia the next day! Big Grin A presto!
