Ok - now that I've heard from most of the usual suspects (others are certainly welcome to make themselves known), I've checked everyone's responses, and it looks like the date with the best availability is Sunday, June 29th, starting whenever folks want to arrive, and going until the food and wine run out!

I've reserved the Roberts Grove picnic site again at Roberts Regional Recreation Area, site of GTGs #1 and #2. We will do our usual potluck - details will be forthcoming closer to the event.

For those who cannot make it on this day, my apologies - but it was the one that suited the greatest number of Slow Travelers. Those who I THINK are coming are

Cubbies
Colleen
KT
Marcy
Gloria
Palma
Sharon
Cathy T.
Sue & David
Wendy & Rob
Softdrink (maybe)
Mischievous

So - put this date on your calendars, and stand by for further information (probably when I get back from Argentina - so after the 7th of June).

I have a favor to ask -- the last two years, my son has been kind enough to get to the park by 10:00 a.m. to "inhabit" our space. Is there anyone willing to be the early bird this year? If we don't get there and claim it by between 10 - 10:30, they release it for general use. Let us know if you could do this.

Put Steve and I on the list as "maybe". We are thinking of a California trip and could time it around this GTG (like we did for the first one).

I'm a maybe also. I've been hoping to get down to this GTG but it has never worked out. I'll be leaving the following week for a road trip to CA but I might be able to swing a flight down. Plus - I don't have to worry about having to be at work on Monday since I'll be off work by them. Joanna's Dancing Man

Shannon Let the party begin -- Queen Pauline and Sir Steve, and Mod Marta, in addition to our local Mod Colleen -- and maybe Mod Chris! What fun.

Oh Hurray, Hurray April Fool

Or should that be Hurrah, Hurrah Joanna's Dancing Man

(I'd have used the chicken, but I suspect it might go way of the carrot Big Grin.)

It would be terrifica total blast if you, Pauline and Steve and Marta join in.

And, with that thought, you three need to think Paso in Feb. Marta, were you going to come again in '09?

Yes, Rob and I will be there. I think an overnight in the City will be in order. Thank you for arranging this for a Sunday, it is going to work so much better this way. Star

Safe travels till then.

Palma - we haven't yet set a firm "start" time - if it follows the pattern of the last two years, we will assemble around noon, start eating by 1 pm, and hang out as long as the food and wine last. I think some of us were there almost until they closed the park at 6 pm last year.

Will Brad come this year too, or are you flying solo?

I am going to be there because my son just informed me that baby grandson's 1st birthday (party) will be celebrated at a later date. I can go see him and have a small celebration in the AM and drive up to join all of you folks... YEAH!

I'm a maybe; if Keith and I come, we'd like to come for the whole weekend, since it's a 5-6 hour drive. But we may have a conflict on Saturday the 28th.

Wendy - et al - posting from Buenos Aires, where we are enjoying a wonderful time.

Menu and final planning will be forthcoming after I return (unless Colleen wants to get it started). I´ll be physically back in California on the 7th - my brain should catch up shortly thereafter.

Ciao.

Is anybody interested in doing another used travel book swap like we did last year? I've begun the periodic attack on my groaning bookshelves and it looks like I might have a few castoffs to contribute. Anybody else?

For those who weren't there last year, we all just put our unwanted travel books on a picnic table and then took what we wanted.

KT,
Judy and I talked a few weeks ago about a travel book swap, and agreed that it's a good idea -- if someone else would take responsibility for hauling away the extra books! (Judy and Bill were on overload after the swap at the SlowBowl.) If you'll manage it, then I'm sure we'd all be happy to swap.

... We still need a volunteer to be at the park early (10-ish) on the 29th to hold our spot ...

Judy's already paid the park reservation fee. Once we get a final headcount we'll figure out how much it is per person (it'll be less than $5 each).

Here's an updated list of attendees - be thinking about what you want to bring, and I'll add to this post. Thanks!

Colleen, I will definitely bring something WITHOUT meat. Wink

And I can also help haul away the "leftover" books. I can donate them to our library.
