After my conference in LA, Paul is flying into LA and we will be meandering up the coast to our favourite food city - San Francisco. Because we will be meandering 'slowly' we only have a couple of days in the city. Does anyone want to get together for brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, etc?

On one of those nights I suspect we will hit the Slanted Door because we had such a nice dinner there the last time we were in the city! That might be a fun place to GTG - I think they have private rooms.

Hi Jerry -
I'm around that weekend with no current plans. Saturdays are usually better for me. I haven't eaten at the Slanted Door, and would love to try it! Hope we can work something out.

That is great Colleen - anyone else up for a lunch or dinner at the The Slanted Door on March 24th? It is in the Ferry Market Terminal and could be combined with some wonderful shopping!

This sounds great to me, as I have also heard much about Slanted Door but haven't gotten there. I would prefer lunch. I don't think Fred will be able to make this.

And Jerry, looking forward to meeting you!

Hey Jerry,

I'd love to join you! I'll come in a little early and do some shopping at the Farmers' Market at the Ferry Plaza.

Excellent Gloria.

The market is a great place to shop. We hope to bring back some more of the excellent Stonehouse Olive Oil since we won't be hitting the Olive Press in Glen Ellen this trip.

Jerry,

I live in Sonoma part time. I can bring some olive oil to you if you'd like from the Olive Press (just 10 minutes from my house).

ooh, gloria - can I get in on that Olive Press offer?? I will be due for some more olive oil by March, so the timing works for me if it works for you. Big Grin

(Unless you get a chance to pick some up before our PR GTG! That would work, too. Not Worthy )

Colleen,

I'd be happy to. Take a look at their website and let me know what you'd like. I'm up there pretty much every weekend, so I can pick some up this Sat.
Btw, for just every day cooking, I use Napa Valley Olive Oil bottled by G. Guidi,a small family owned place up in St. Helena. It's less expensive and works great for everyday dishes.
Hey...while I'm there, maybe I need to pick up some Woodhouse Chocolates!

Woodhouse Chocolates! Gloria, you're killin' me! (Although it turns out I like Fran's sea salt caramels better, that doesn't stop me from scarfing the Woodhouse version. Pig )

I wish I could remember which EVOO I bought the last time at the Olive Press. Frown ... From the descriptions on the website, I think it must have been the Glen Ellen blend. (I like bright and peppery oil.)

You're a peach to do this! Thank you.

Hello, Jerry. May I join you all? We are still in Paris until Saturday but we live in SF. In fact, I work downtown.

Since I am a CPA/tax, I will be working that day ( Eek ) for sure but I can take a lunch break and meet you all. When I work Saturdays, I usually take a break to do some shopping the the Ferry Plaza Farmer's market.

Jing - that sounds great. The more the merrier!

Thanks for updating the title of the thread Colleen - you moderators take care of us so well! :-)

Gloria - you are a lifesaver. I just noticed on the website that the store in Glen Ellen is moving and will be closing on January 14th! The new store doesn't reopen until April. They'll still be selling their products at Cline winery and a few other spots on Arnold Road though. The bottle I just finished was the Glen Ellen blend. It was so good.

How have I never heard about Woodhouse Chocolates before? They look deadly!

Colleen and Jerry,

One bottle each of the Glen Ellen Blend, with a woodhouse chocolate chaser?
No problem.

I would love to join you all for lunch. I'm new to the board, but have been lurking for sometime. Can't make the other GTG's happening in the area and would love to meet some of you here.

Gloria, do you think that you might bring some oil and chocolates to PR?

Jerry, might you and Paul be stopping in Monterey/Carmel/Pacific Grove area on your way north from LA? I don't think we can make the lunch in the city but maybe here on the peninsula? Would love to meet the two of you.

I'd love to join in also. I love the Slanted Door - well actually, I love lots of things at the Ferry Building. For my birthday last year I had fish tacos at Mexican place (the name escapes me) and then had delicious beignets and the great Blue Bottle coffee at Boulettes Larder. It would be enjoyable to meet some of the people I've been reading on the board for years (and who love to travel, eat and read as much as I do).
