A few of us have been considering going back to the sultry city of Savannah for a few days next April...Tammy Jo's Wedding Cake House is available as our home away from home for the weekend of April 15th - 18th, 2010. I think this is a good weekend as it doesn't conflict with the Great Gathering...can I go to both? Car

Let us know if you are interested, and if there are enough people coming we can book the luscious Wedding Cake House. There are several bedroom/bath combos plus a couple of kitchens, so there will be plenty of private space for everyone.

The Wedding Cake House is gorgeous inside and out...I had a tour of this historic home this past spring when I was in Savannah. Beautiful! It is located on Monterey Square, directly kitty-corner across the square from the Mercer Williams House...a short walk from Forsyth Park and to downtown Savannah.

If you'd rather have a more private place to stay, there are lots of great inns, B & B's and private accommodations available at that time of year. Here are a few to consider:
Green Palm Inn...Mindy loves this place!

Savannah Dream Vacations...Geoff's beautiful homes.

Forsyth Park Inn, located just across the park.

The Mansion on Forsyth just a short walk from the Wedding Cake House.

Please let us know if you are interested in spending some time in Savannah in April, 2009!

Good morning all,

OK, I am in... Big Grin Oh wait, I am the rental house coordinator for "Wedding Cake" ! Wink Grin This historical house is on beautiful Monterey Square. Some say it is the loveliest square in Savannah. I stood in front of this house on my last visit to Savannah and it is awesome. The location is perfect.

The main house has four bedrooms, three of which have been already spoken for! Smile WOW! Cool
One of the bedrooms has twin beds which could easily be shared by two slow trav "buddies". There is also the option to rent the downstairs level which would give an additional two bedrooms. Brenda has already claimed the carriage house for this Savannah adventure! Wink

If you are interested in participating in the rental, please send me a PM or email and I will send you the details.

Have a great Monday!

Leslie

Hi Kendall-

To answer your question - At the moment it is Brenda, Judy from Birmingham, myself and a friend, and possibly Karen and Mac.

It is still early yet Smile and Savannah is ten months away Wink Grin The reason for posting so early is the need to finalize the contract for "Wedding Cake" which still has one beautiful room available in main house. Big Grin

Have a great day! Joanna's Dancing Man

I certainly understand the appeal of Savannah and the temptation of booking the Wedding Cake House, but what about another location on the SE coast this time? Perhaps Charleston. I haven't been there in years.

Or maybe someplace along the N.C. Crystal Coast, such as Beaufort (N.C., not S.C.) a little later in April or early May. We stayed near New Bern after Savannah last year, and it found the area to be delightful.

Below is a picture of sailing on the Neuse River.

Hi Ann,

Thank-you for all of your wonderful suggestions, they are greatly appreciated. Big Grin It sounds like they could have the makings of a future GTG!

The Savannah GTG in 2010 is pretty much set already. We would love to have you join us if you are available. Big Grin

Charleston can easily be combined with this Savannah GTG if people are interested as it makes a wonderful day-trip.

Have a great day!

Good morning, Coffee

At this point, I believe this GTG is cancelled due to several people having unanticipated conflicts in April. Frown

Perhaps, there might be some future interest in trying for a Savannah GTG 2011.

Happy Holidays! Rudolf

Leslie Good Morning,

To bad the 2010 GTG has been canceled, I had made a bottle of Lemonchello for it Martini but that's OK I guess I'll have to bring it to the 2011 GTG myself(I'm sure it wont spoil) Big Grin to save the shipping! Wink Grin

Hi Mac,

Please save the bottle for a future GTG Big Grin

Sometimes when an event is planned too far in advance- stuff happens- whether it be personal, professional, or other conflicting travel options. Big Grin

Since my home location is only a couple of hours from Savannah, I would be game for a GTG next year if there is an interest. Wink Grin

All the best,
