... created a sketch in a book provided by B., a traveling journal of sorts, moving around the world amongst online virtual friends. ...
I really like the idea of a SlowTrav traveling journal/sketchbook! Unless someone else wants to start one earlier, I thought I'd create one for the next local-to-me GTG (August 2nd Picnic in the Redwoods, I think), then send it out into the world with a slow traveler who's heading out on a journey.
**Edited to add: In thinking about this, it'd be even more fun if there were more than one book traveling between GTGs! Who else will get a SlowTrav notebook started?

Well, I'm hoping to have some mini-gtgs in HI and Paris this summer, so I'll start one. Colleen, let me know what you're thinking. Or if it's like an "album" or "scrapbook" perhaps, we can have individual pages done and send them to the new SlowTrav Historian () who will keep the master copy?
I'm thinking a simple, unlined paper sketchbook is all we need - Michael's regularly has them on sale. Maybe a few little travel themed stickers or quotes scattered through the pages ... a completely blank page can be intimidating!
We could try a couple of different notebook types - one with removable pages (spiral bound), and one without, to see which we like best.
I envision the notebook being passed around at GTGs for Slow Travelers to doodle or draw in or write something about the event. I think drawings would make it more personal, but we can make it whatever we want -- it could certainly be used like a scrapbook, with glued in brochures, cards, menus, wine labels , etc.
At the end of the get together (small or large), it gets handed off to a traveler for its next journey.
