It is looking like we are going to have a second GTG here in the Pacific Grove/Pebble Beach/Carmel area this coming July.
Marcia and David are spending the week of July 3-10th in the Santa Cruz area and would like to come down here to listen to the bagpiper at Spanish Bay, sip a little bit of something and eat some good bites. Would anyone else like to do the same?
There are some of you who can't make the June 13th GTG and there may even be a few of you who would like to join in on both June and July's events...
So, who's in?
Wendy and Rob Marcia and David ....

That sounds like a definite possibility for us, since we will just miss the June GTG (I get back from Italy on June 14). Always good to have a cool escape plan from our July heat days with lovely people in a lovely place!
Everyone, something Palma said made me remember to advise people that we are often in the fog in late June and all of July, so this is the perfect place to come and cool down. Just remember to bring your layers.

This would be July 10th? Sounds good to me. we should add the date to the thread title.
Wine tasting? Depending on where my daughter and her boyfriend are working come July, we might be able to set something up with either Bargetto or Bonny Doon mid-day and end up in Monterey later in the afternoon. Either or both is also a possibility.
Of course Chris, it would be great if you and Frank could make it, to either event - or both I think there will be enough of a difference between the two events.
Thank you Judy for changing the title to include the date. Will you be back in time for this GTG?
Marcia, wine tasting sounds good, we could also do it around here - we have lots of options; Morgan - Crossroads Sheid - Canner Row, I think Bargetto Winery - Cannery Rob Chateau Julien - Carmel Valley Road Cima Collina - 7th and San Carlos, Carmel Galante - Dolores Ave, Carmel
For a few suggestions

Rio Grill - California cuisine, in the Crossroads shopping center, Rio Rd & Hwy 1 = http://www.riogrill.com/ Lugano Swiss Bistro, a fondu party would be fun = http://swissbistro.com/contact/ Robata for some Japanese = http://redirectingat.com/?id=4...2Frobatacarmelcom%2F Both Lugano and Robata are in the Barnyard off of Hwy1 and Carmel Valley Rd (basically). The above three restaurants are a 15-18 minute drive away from the bagpiper.

We have been going there for 20+ years and the specialty for us has always been the paella - whenever we see paella on a menu we try it and have never found any that rivals Fandango's, but they have changed the way they are making it and it just doesn't make it, IOHO. We are going to let Pierre -owner- know how we feel, but there are no guarentees that he will go back to the old ways ...
So, either the Spanish Bay rest. - Roy's, Peppoli or Sticks, or Rio Grill, Lugano or Robata are on the list.
Does anyone have any feelings any way or the other?
If Fandango's goes back we can put it back on the list.

I cannot think of a better way to a) end a week's vacation in Santa Cruz and b) continue the celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary (July 9th). The corks will be popping!
Another idea; We had lunch at 'Little Napoli' in Carmel, Saturday and they have a whole wine tasting area called Pepe's Vino Napoli, a wine bar http://www.pepeinternational.com/littlenapoli.html I was told when I asked - 2oz pours of 3 wines = flight, price range 7-25$ depending. They can offer tapa's/appetizers at the same time. We could then go to Little Napoli for our meal or ..... NOT.
Regarding Lugano and fondu, they offer on their menu a four course fondu meal, which includes a very nice salad, cheese fondu w/ bread, a broth fondu w/ chicken and beef-carpaccio style, veggies to dip and cook and then this is followed by a chocolate fondu w/ fruit and lady fingers - I think. Very good, very fattening and a load of fun. There should be a review on the site.
