From the other thread - here are my first suggestions for a GTG:
What about Chattanooga? Kind of almost halfway between Knoxville and Manchester? This Boathouse restaurant is owned by the same people who own the Canyon Grill near Cloudland Canyon, which is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Or 212 Market? Or somewhere else?
Chattanooga works for me. Any Saturday in October is good. Even a Sunday (during the day) would work.

Chattanooga is great for me. Saturdays are almost always free, but I could do a Sunday if need be.
The Boathouse menu makes me hungry just reading it -- and I only just had lunch! I would vote for the Boathouse. One of my students went there recently and had given me the address and phone number. She loved it.
Gail, I hope you can make it to this GTG. I missed getting to meet you in Atlanta.
I am just fine with Chattanooga... an easy 90 minutes for us, maybe less.
I think a lunch or early dinner would be great, since I think most people will be driving in from elsewhere.
Can we try to pick a date that will work around Gail's travel plans? (If we do it AFTER her trip and before the holiday season launches, she can tell us all about her trip... which is really an amazing story.)
One last question. Earline, is it possible for you to change the name of this topic to "Chattanooga" as the first word so it is visible as the name of the thread (is hidden on mine). That might attract the interest of others who are within say two hours.
Also, I would be willing to contact Pauline and try to get the info on other STers who may be within two hours of Chattanooga and see if we can get any others involved. Leslie (lives south of Atlanta-- Earline you met at the Atlanta GTG) is one person I know of. I would love to meet Linda from Brevard, NC, but not sure how far that would be... Does anyone know any others?
Early dinner sounds fine. Chattanooga is about 1:15 drive for me. I think it would be great to have it after Gail's return so we could hear about her trip.
I will change the title, but I'll have to ask a mod how to do it.
Before our GTG in Atlanta, I got a list of "local" people from Pauline, but of course now I can't find it. But she was very obliging about getting the names for me.
It doesn't take much to get me excited, and now I'm thinking will I be able to wait until our next GTG. I always am SO envious of those who live on the coasts. They can come with GTGs at the drop of a hat.
We leave for Italy on Thanksgiving Day and will be back on December 10. Anything before or after that works for me. Oh, and my vote is also for the Boathouse.

So happy to see your GTG plans. Have to check with Brent to see what date would work the best for us. We would also bring our daughter, Riley. As it stands now, the December date would work better as we are going to see U2 the weekend of the 17th/18th in Atlanta. Would you consider January at all? That works even better!
Finally looked at the Boathouse menu and it looks wonderful. I love seafood! I also like Chattanooga a lot and haven't been there for a few years, so that will be good too.
Our family could do either of the two weekends mentioned, though I'd lean toward the December date so Leslie and her family could be part of this.
Or-- if the Christmas season is just too hectic for people-- I'd also be interested in moving into early January (weekend of Jan 7/8 or 14/15). That might help liven up an otherwise-empty time of year. I hate to put it off another month or two, but also want to do our best to include everyone who wants to be part of our get-together. I also wondered if we will have a problem getting a big table (or even a private room?) for a lunch so close to Christmas...
Leslie, which date is your U2 concert? January would be OK with me. There is usually nothing much to do in January after the hectic activities of the holidays.
What does everybody else think?
Kaydee, were you going to get the list of other members who live within driving distance?
The more people that get involved, the harder it will be to coordinate a date where everyone can come.
There are five of us who have raised our hands at this point. My thought is that we go ahead and pick and date and place that work for the five of us, then see if others want to join in...
We really may have a more appealing date in a "slower" month like January. I don't think all that many people pursue their European travel then either...
Kathy, I think you have a good point about getting a big table during the holidays. I checked the web site for the Boathouse to see what their hours are, but they are not listed. I emailed them, so hopefully I will get a response soon.
I just saw this thread. We are in Nashville and would love to come! Is it for sure in Jan? Our only potential problem will be if we can't get over Monteagle Mountain with snow. Linda & Wes

Yes, it is definitely on. January 14 for a leisurely lunch. You and I are in the same boat re the snow and ice on the mountain as I live in Manchester.
Glad you saw the post! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
