Hello all. Gard and his wife Nikki will be visiting NYC at the end of November and that seems like a good reason for a holiday season GTG. Will anyone be available?

Title changed at Margaret's request to reflect updated date.

Hi Margaret!

How are you? I might be able to make it depending on when it is and babysitting coverage. Hopefully my husband will come if it's a weekday. Are you thinking the week after Thanksgiving?

PS. I was thinking of you the other day - my sister and I are thinking of doing another trip to Paris in April!!

I'll most likely be around then, and would love to join you.

Once Gard posts back with his dates we can start to figure out where we'll meet. Maybe we'll hear from Daniel too as I believe he'll be back from Paris.

Sonia - back to Paris in April! Lucky you. It's hard for me to accept that I can't return to '09 (but Astrid's wedding plans are coming together nicely). Looks like your sister got bitten with the Paris bug Wink Grin How was Italy? Are you writting a trip report?

Italy was awesome - no trip report - we spent most of it hanging out with the relatives and eating all day!!!

Regrading Paris, I think it's more like we got bitten by the "yeay, no kids or responsibilities for a week" bug!! Smile

I'll be interested, too, for sure, and depending on the date....

Yup, but not my favorite place. Too much attention to the china and the chairs, relative to the actual food. But that's just my opinion; others love it.

Some time, we can talk Montclair restaurants. Big Grin (Osteria Giotto, Raymond's, Thai Chef, Culinariane, Nori II, Cuban Pete's....including the sublime AND the silly)

Will be nice to meet another New Jerseyan! So where is Gard...???

Hi

Sorry, I didn't know about this part of the forum Blushing Nikki and I are coming over on November 28th and we are leaving again on December 4th. At the moment we are pretty flexible so we are open for suggestions about time and place Wink

Well, I'll throw out some dates and let's see who's available. I'd prefer either Friday, Nov 30th or Sunday, Dec 2nd - I would be able to make lunch or dinner either of these days. I could also make a GTG on the evening of Monday, Dec 3. Once we know when and who can make it, then we can start to figure out the where.

You know, the more I think about this, the more I like the idea of Sunday brunch in the city - but that's just me. Smile

I could poke around; we usually go for dim sum but that's not too vegetarian friendly (I think). The last time we had non dim sum brunch was at the Blue Water Grill near Union Square and it was pretty good, but that was about three years ago.

Here's the pdf menu though if anyone is interested.

I loved Blue Water Grill when I had lunch there years ago, but I am not too enthusiastic about brunch (sorry Kim Frown). I am not crazy about eggs or their various relatives (quiche, etc) and mmost brunch menus have eggs as the only veg option. Blue Water Grill is no exception.

Hi, I definitely cannot make Dec 2, but don't plan around me since I have babysitting issues!

I think I will have my passport up to date to be able to visit Manhattan. It all depends on the date and time.

Very quiet here about the GTG. Can we decide on a date and time? If Sunday brunch is the only time we are all available, of course I can do that. If dinner, what about that place on W. 46th where we had the GTG when Doru and Josette visited. It was a last minute change, but I think it worked out pretty well.

Anyone still want to GTG? I do! Just need to have a date ahead of time so if I have to do any juggling at work with my hours, I can.

I know that Kim is busy today cheering on Chris, who is running the NYC Marathon. But I think the is still interested, as am I. Everyone else is still very quiet. (I do have to check my moving date....which is not likely to be set for a while. But we can pick a time and then I will bug out if I have to.)
