We connected with three different Slow Travel friends on our recent trip to Provence. As always, meeting up with other Slow Travelers was a highlight of our travels. I thought I would post some photos from each of these visits...
Charley, Kelly and I (along with two friends from Knoxville) were excited to reunite with Kevin Widrow and his wife Elisabeth for lunch in Apt. They are busy getting ready for the upcoming season at their B&B in St. Saturnin, Le Mas Perreal.
Then this past Thursday we hiked with Kevin on the Vaucluse Plateau up above St. Saturnin. Good exercise, gorgeous scenery, and great conversation! It was overcast when we met at 9 am, so we visited over coffee for a while. Our hike must have been at least ten miles, which one very tricky part (shown in this photo) and a fairly steep walk back up to our car. All that required a couple of beers at the end of the day.
Then-- quite unexpectedly-- we ran into Kevin at the Apt market on Saturday. Another opportunity for coffee and conversation!
I met Sandy Garcia (sandy456) on the France board earlier this year, and we discovered that we would both be in the Luberon at the same time.
Sandy, her husband Ramon, and their friends Arnold and Karen came to our house for a glass of wine on a Sunday evening and then we all went together to dinner at Le Fournil in Bonnieux. We had such an enjoyable time together. Then the following Tuesday we met for breakfast in Gordes and browsed the Gordes market together.
Like so many other Slow Travelers I've met, I felt like I had known Sandy for a long, long time... and I feel sure I'll see her again! (Note that I am wearing my new Tilley hat... and Charley is wearing his in the hiking photo with Kevin!)
On Saturday (just two days ago) we spent several very enjoyable hours with ST member Charles W and his wife Marianne. Charles W's real name is David Wilkinson. He and Marianne own the Mas Pomona, a beautiful B&B set in the midst of apple orchards just outside the village of Cheval Blanc on the western end of the Petit Luberon. David and Marianne (an interior designer) have done a beautiful job with the restoration of this old farmhouse.
We had a complete tour of their B&B and then a wonderful lunch outside in the summer kitchen. Marianne is a fabulous cook, and once again we felt like we were with long-time friends. I'll be posting a review of the Mas Pomona later on this week.

Awesome! those are great pictures, what a wonderful experience for all of you. Isn't this community of ours wonderful? think of all the people you would not have met if not for Slowtrav. I think it's so cool how we are meeting fellow ST's and,often, feel as if we've known them all of our lives.
