I loved Diana's proposal and I am totally up for it. She suggested we start by sharing our closure periods.

We actually do not have one in Pisa, but we generally do not rent Casina di Rosa in the Winter.

Since I am pretty much in the middle, I would be honoured to organize something either in or near Pisa or even better a week end near my village, Civitella.

In Pisa, we could actually put up 2/4 people in the apartment, in Civitella we can put up two if it is not too cold, as there is no central heating. But I would have the perfect place in mind to arrange a nice dinner.

Who among the osti e ostesse is interested in meeting? Big Grin

Thanks Gloria for starting this!
We close on November 4th and this ostessa definitely wants to be there!!!! My schedule for after November 4th is a bit chaotic, though... as it always is... sorry! But I'll try really hard to be able to tell you something more precise soon!

OK, I am up for it too---I think your area is good Gloria, because it is centrally located. We are done on Oct. 31.

But, but, but... what about us cooks and cookery teachers? Can we not also be ostessi?

I sure feel like one even if it isn't my house.

Can non-innkeepers (aka people like me and Diva) come? Or should that be a separate GTG? I would love to have "faces with posts". November sounds good for everyone!

Innkeepers, vacation rental owners and hospitality service providers (That be you, Meg Wink )

I can't say yet if November is good, we are going to try to get out of here for the first time in four years-- to Germany and maybe the south of Italy. We can also do it in January or February when everything is REALLY dead, and everyone has had a chance to regroup and relax and go away after the busy season is over...

January and early February would be perfect for me too, because the courses at the university are over and I only have to be in pisa for the exams so I am actually much more free than in Nov and Dec when I teach three courses.

It's very good Gloria! But I'm starting to wonder if it's normal that the concept of "a good season" imply that you have no energy left not even for going on holiday... that might be a good starting topic for our GTG Wink Grin

I would love to be a fly on the wall for this GTG!!

Sounds like a great idea! Take lots of photos and if anyone has recording equipment, make a podcast for us! All you need is a digital recorder or a computer with a recorder. Then send the file to me and I will edit it.
