We will be in Oakland/S.F for Thanksgiving weekend again this year. Of course, I will be one of the insane shoppers at Union Square at the crack of dawn on Friday, and meet up with friends for the whole tradition: Nordstrom, Macy's windows, Crate and Barrel, Rotunda at Neiman's, drink at the Fairmont, tree lighting, and eventually dinner.
On Saturday, we'd love to go to the Ferry Building Market. Anyone up for lunch or dinner Saturday?

From one fanatical Union Square-Friday-after Thanksgiving shopper to another, I am up for a Saturday lunch or dinner. Who knows, we might run into each other even with the Friday massive crowd in Gavin Newsom country.
Hi Palma! If I'm around (sometimes I head to Auburn for the long weekend to hang with my friend Melody) I'm definitely in for a meal on Saturday. Will let you know for sure in a couple of weeks.

I am greatly disappointed but we will miss you! We are housesitting near Seattle for friends who are attending a surprise birthday party in Paris. Sounds pretty decadent to me.
Thank goodness for SlowBowl and Savannah. I am missing everyone.

Don't you hate a wisea$$? As long as you pick a place that is walking distance to a BART station, I'm fine with anything you want. Problem with SF is the wealth of choice!

I'm sorry I'll miss you too! I'm headed to Tempe to visit my son for Thanksgiving. Going to the ASU-USC football game that day, then having Thanksgiving with the family and 20 of my son's closest friends on Friday!

I am 'in' for a GTG on the 24th, and either lunch or dinner is fine. If dinner, we should probably pin down a restaurant soon, and make a reservation. It'll be a busy weekend in SF!

If dinner works better for everyone, great. It can be anywhere, or near a BART station for those from farther away. Any suggestions, locals? Is there an easy way to get to North Beach from a BART station?
I haven't lived there in YEARS, so throw out some names!
From the Powell Street (Union Square) BART station (Montgomery Street might be better), North Beach/Columbus Avenue is about a 6-8 block walk or a cheap taxi fare.
Ooh, Colleen. Great list! The Grand Cafe menu has me slobbering all over my computer keyboard.
Dinner works for me --with a group, an early reservation might be better, especially around Union Square, where pre-theater diners crowd in around 6pm.

I think dinner at the Grand Cafe would be good. They can accommodate groups, have a nice variety of items on the menu, there's the pretty 'petit cafe' (bar) if someone arrives early and wants to start with a cocktail (or ) and it's a central location. How does the Grand Cafe sound to everyone?
If anyone wants to join me Saturday afternoon (11/24) at the Legion of Honor for the Marie-Antoinette exhibit, let me know. I'm a member and can bring one guest at no charge. Tickets are otherwise $15 each, and it looks like they should be ordered in advance.

Shall I make a reservation for 9 people at 6 PM? I'm sure we can adjust it to add of subtract one closer to the date. I'll call on Sunday, so post if you see this!
