Susie, thanks once more!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I know that Judy is checking the cost at Crustacean. Let's see what she finds out and then we can come to a decision. I am wondering since this is a work night if 6 would be too early and 8 too late. Let's see what people say after Judy reports back. Fringale does sound very good--in fact, excellent price. It's just the time--which is not a problem for us as we are just being tourists. Big Grin

We would probably not decide that until returning home from Texas (where we will be for the holidays).

But I will still be watching this thread until then.

Hi,

I think Fringale is a great choice. (When Rob was working at the store in Monterey, and the lab, he helped the mother of the daughter of the original owner, Kammi. Just some trivia for you.) And, we have never eaten there! It has always been held in high regard.

Price is fine, and Rob probably won't be drinking more than a glass or an extra half as he will be driving us home afterwards.

With that said, six would be better for us, but eight is fine as well. My concern is that the tables won't be ready for our group on the dot of, or close to, the reservation time of eight. If they have to put several tables together to create our space we are looking at half past or later most likely. On the other hand I don't have to work on Thursday so we can get home later.

Guess the answer is for us, we are easy for the where, when and how much.

It will be great to be all together.

Debra, I guess I was composing as you were posting. I am thrilled you and Jerry will be coming up for this GTG. I am sorry I haven't responded to your email about backs and beds, I only found it -again- this morning. I would rather talk to you over the phone as there are so many different aspects. As I wrote on the GB, yesterdays therapy session was rough, but I am better.

Sorry for the off-subject. I just had to take this op. BlushingWendy

I think Fringale sounds wonderful, but we would very much prefer 6:00. We would be driving back to Napa, and would rather not be leaving so late after an 8:00 meal.

Let's hear from more about the time--6 is fine for us as by the time we have a glass or wine, order, etc. it'll be a fine.

Let's see how others feel.

OK--Let's do Fringale. The price looks good, the time seems good, the menu is yummy and the chef's table has a degree of privacy (according to the website.) Susie, can you call and confirm? Judy, can you change the subject line to January 27?

Right now I have:

For Sures-- 18 19 {edited 12/24 by TourMama)
Judy and Bill
Wendy and Rob
Roz and Mike
Ken and Jane
Marcy and Pete
Sharon L
Susie & Mark
Colleen
Joan (Cubbies)
Eden
Darci
Ruth K and David & Ruth's friend

Maybe:
Debra and Jerry
Cindy Ruth

That takes us to the magic 21.
Debra and Cindy Ruth, let us know as soon as you can. If anyone's plans change, then we can have a waiting list for this glorious event. What fun we shall have.

Fringale sounds like a great choice. I'll do my very best to be there by 6.

I'm really looking forward to this! Is this the 1st ST GTG of 2010?

Jane - I think Ruth is two, not one - add David to the list. So we are at 18 and counting.

We are all set! Reservation is under "Susie" for 6PM, Jan 27th for 20 people.

In the next week or so I will check out the parking situation. I think the meters stop running at 6PM, street parking is fairly easy. There are also 2 pay lots within half a block.

I'll follow up with more exact info later.

Yes, Judy is correct, please include my husband, David. I also mentioned it to a friend, but at the time the restaurant was Kokkari, don't know if she is interested in Fringales or not. Maybe I should let the offer die? Are we held at 20? If so, perhaps I shouldn't update the suggestion.....

Judy, since it is too late for me to edit my post, can you add David to Ruth's name? Thanks! {edited to add - done! Judy}

Susie, is it right that we are limited to 20? If so we need to find out what Debra and Cindy Ruth are doing before we add more. They will bring us to 21 but I suspect that 1 extra place can fit.

So, Ruth, better hold off on more until we find out what is happening with the count.

Susie, thanks for making the reservation!

Hi Jane,

Yes it is 20 max, although if it were to be 21 probably not a problem? I would not want to push it more than that, it is an intimate space.

This looks like it is getting down to the wire so I will take a pass as of now.
That frees up 2 possibles.

Sounds like great fun, and if we do book in SF for that week we could always stand outside and peer hungrily through the window. Wink Grin

Everyone's checked in. We just need to find out about Colleen, Cindy and Debra and Jerry. Ruth, there may be space for your friend. If there are others interested, let us know--we have a table for 20 so would hate not to use it all.

Cindy, I am so sorry I will not be able to meet you this time. Loved the photo of Bella!

My husband wants to come to the GTG! He is the equivalent of Sharon's Ed. My Ed is Mark and he is a sweetheart of a guy. Married 27 years and he cooks dinner every night (and does the grocery shopping) Heart Top Chef

If he is on the waiting list, that is fine - if you snooze you lose with this crowd!

I know I'm late in chiming in but only because I'm new to SlowTravel. Any chance I could squeeze into this event? I live here in the Bay area and would love to meet others. If you're already booked I understand and will just look forward to the next gathering Smile

Thanks,
Anita

Hi Anita, so glad you checked the GTG forum!

I think we are at the max of 20, but we should really do a final roll call shortly. Life happens and plans change. 1/27 seems a long way off right now, but as we know, it will be here before we know it! It would be fun to meet you. Please keep checking this thread as we finalize the head count.

BTW, I had lunch at Fringale today! Parking meters do stop running at 6PM, so there is plenty of free street parking.

Food as wonderful as always...
