I thought I might start a GTG thread for any fellow travelers planning to be in Florence in January or if that's too soon then how about all you travelers in Rome for the month of February.
I will be here breathing in everything Italian for both those months. All invitations/ideas are welcomed for a GTG.

We're going to have a book swap (no money changes hands) at artist Patricia Smith's medieval home in Otricoli (Southern Umbria) on Saturday February 9th if you'd like to come up for that.

Nearest fast train is Orte (ex-Termini, 36 minutes), and slower, closer station is Magliano-Sabina (ex-Tiburtina and Trastevere). We'll almost certainly be able get folks lifts to Otricoli from there. It'd be a chance for you to see Civita Castellana as well, and maybe even the amazing ruins of the Roman port town below the village is temperature and time permit.

We'll firm up as starting time and maybe post train times as well, closer to the date.

Hi Alison, That's right up my alley...what a great idea to have a book swap. Count me in.
I wouldn't miss it. I have also wanted to see you and your beautiful home and village for awhile now. Maybe I could even stay over on Saturday night in town and return to Rome on Sunday. I might have a guest with me that I talked into going to Morocco for 10 days leaving on Feb. 12th. This is perfect timing. I await all the details.

Great! Look here or at expatsinitaly for updates. I think it'll be a late morning start, but it will somewhat depend on trains.
