You know, I just scanned back and realized that we have not set a time. I am going to defer to Ms. Teachick on this, it being her original idea.

How about 7.00 p.m.? Does this work for everyone?

This gives Shannon time to make her way over if she can and it's not so late that we can't have an after dinner Philippe's thang if we so desire it.

I like 7.

Kathy, Philippe's closes at 10 pm, so we may have to meet for lunch, or maybe even a pre-GTG on Friday night. Or lunch on Sunday. Let's see what Shannon works out, she's the one actually working that weekend - who knew that this could maybe turn into a mini-weekend ? Wink

Mini weekend GTG. Love it!

Yes, let's make Phillipe's a pre or post affair. Methinks this is going to be a fun time for all. Sex and the City, the movie, is opening on May 30th, the day before. I'm planning on going to a screening that day if anyone cares to join me. Sex, wine tasting and Phillipe's, oh my. Garlic Man

Ok, can we summarize the plans? Please. I think some of this is going above my male radar. Are we meeting at BottleRock first? RR

I'll call Bottlerock to see about a reservation at 7.00. Then we can have that gelato after if we'd like as you suggested. That's all for now, Robert. Carry on...

This is who I have as coming thus far:

Kathy (will bring Jorge)
Marcia and David
Barb and her sister
Beth and Keith
Robert (maybe Peg?)
Justine
Leonora
Shannon (maybe)

Have I missed anyone? Let's see if more locals catch wind and want to come out and play as we go along. I'll wait to make the reservation as they say they take "groups" from 12-150. I think we'll have the 12 at least!

Kathy, re: the Sex and the City screening, are you going during the day, or in the evening on the 30th? And by "screening" do you mean just the regular movie opening, or something private? If you're going in the evening, I might be interested!

I was following the end of the thread and the subtle shift from afternoon to evening was slipped in there.

As I have less than 1 mile to commute I may just walk. Generally I am not a late night person as my usual wakeup time on Sunday is 6am, as you know I literally "have to run". But I can make it still. Peg won't make it out of bed at 6am if she comes, so will not be attending. We rarely miss weekend runs,it's sort of like our religion.

Robert, if it started earlier, would Peg come?

Originally we were going to do a afternoon wine tasting which they have from 1-4 pm and then maybe Gelato. Probably she would come for that, but don't change plans for Us. RR

Robert, I never thought this was going to be an afternoon thing. Sorry if you got that in your head somehow. I never latched onto the 1-4 idea. I thought we were discussing dinner and wine tasting and then gelato afterwards, though it can be an early dinner!

I suppose we can do this as an earlier in the day event if everyone prefers that. That could be fun as well. Thoughts? I'll call Bottlerock and ask if it's easier to take a crowd later or during the tasting hours.

And Robert, we wouldn't be going late so Peg should surely be able to make it, but that's up to her. It would be lovely to meet her.

Okay, here's the low down:

I called Bottlerock and they don't take reservations after 6.00 on fridays and Saturdays, though they would make one for me at 6.30. We can make a reservation for between 1-4 and the wine tasting will be going on at that time. This means the wine pro will be there and pouring the 5-6 wines from the tasting at the tables and talking about the wines, etc. If we go later we can taste any wines we like, but no wine pro to explain the wines to us.

Now I'm thinking a daytime reservation is the way to go so we can experience the full monty. Robert, we may just get Peg out after all!

If everyone could please let me know your preference I'd like to make the reservation ASAP. So, have at it!

Kathy if it was up to me 1 pm would be great then we could have lunch with the wines. If its too much later than that I suppose I could have lunch before and then taste wines in the later Pm.

Peg would be quite likely to go if it was 1-2 Pm. I will still go it its later. RR

We would probably prefer to meet a little later, maybe even 3 pm, for winetasting. Then maybe we could plan something with Shannon later in the afternoon or early evening. Like I said, this could be an "only in L.A. progressive GTG." We are nothing if not creative.

Hope the rest of the folks see this and let us what works for them.

Hi I'm okay with whatever works for the majority. I can be in the W.L.A./Culver City area anytime of day or night. My whole day/night is penciled in "Slowtrav". Just say when and where and I'm there...Barb Cabot PS As my sister lives in Santa Monica she's available and flexible to what the group chooses.

Early evening also works better for Keith and me, as we have plans during the day. Also, Keith reacts to sulfites so he isn't much of a wine driker/wine taster. Dinner and gelato sounds fabulous though! What/where is Bottlerock?

Hey wait for me....I am not gonna miss this one!! I have been back for a few weeks now from my three glorious months in Italy and I'm definitely having wine withdrawals. Bottlerock sounds great and it doesn't matter to me whether it's day or night; I'm there. A presto, Liz

Liz, glad you got my email about this! It's been far too long and you simply must come!

There is one change here, but these are the FINAL details.

Please confirm if you are coming.

Saturday May 31 @ 5.30:

The Wine Bar (formerly called Vinu Populi) in Culver City.

We can each buy wine cards with any amount we want on them and the Vino Populi is the wine drum that we get our wine pours out of after inserting our cards. Price is per ounce and generally one ounce is for drinking tasting. What fun!

After snacking and wining those of us who are still hungry can head over to Ugo (next door) for more food and their famous gelato. Sweet...

That's it folks! The reservation is made for 5.30 at The Wine Bar under my name, Kathy Bray.

Hope to see you there!
