I see from the trip calendar that some folks will be there at the end of April. Any interest in a get together?

I'm interested! You beat me to the post. We will be there (my 11 year old granddaughter and I) and available for GTG from the 23rd (our arrival day in Italy) through 1 May, staying very near the Pantheon.

We will be there all those days! We are staying near Campo dei Fiori so it should be easy to find a convenient place. The only day that I know wouldn't be good would be the 28th. I am starting to get serious on our planning and having a great time. I can't wait!

As of this time, the only date definitely not good for us is the evening of the 28th, when we've got tickets for the ballet. Also the evening of our arrival, the 23rd, we are probably going to do the Context Rome Passegiatta walk. So I'll look at our tentative schedule, and add some dates.

It's time to bop this one up again.

Maybe lunch on Wednesday 29 April?

We are planning on the Context Rome cooking class that day which sounds like it will be a lot of fun but will mean we are busy at lunch. Would a late afternoon coffee/wine bar gtg work on the prior Wednesday (the 22nd)?

Didn't Jim Z say he was going to be in Rome at the end of April?

We won't be arriving until about noon on the 23rd, so that's out for us. Smile

We could probably make lunch nearly any other day, except probably Thursday April 30.

(And I won't bring my spreadsheets unless required. Smile )

Re Jim: I know that he and Diana are flying into Rome around then, but I am not sure exactly which days they will actually be staying in Rome. Hey Jim, pipe in here!

We arrive in Rome on April 16 and leave on April 19.....doesn't look like our schedules mesh this time.

How about in San Quirico d'Orcia? Smile

Hi Marian and Everyone Interested -
How about coffee/gelato Sunday late in the afternoon? We could do something on the 23rd but that might be too much with your arrival that day. I will post on the other Board but we may be doing Arte Vaticana on the same tour? Monday the 24th at 9?
You would think with two weeks in Rome there would be plenty of time - but we are already keeping a list of things we can't get to this time!

Actually, we have tickets for the Galleria Borghese on Sunday, 3pm -5pm. So if we met that day, it would have to be later, and preferably near the Borghese.

We are going to do the Arte Vaticana on Thursday afternoon; didn't want to have to hurry over to be there at 9am Monday.

We are going to try to get to the church on Via Guilia that is only open on Sunday's at 6 in the evening so that won't work. How about coffee and a cornetto Sunday morning? We are going to try to see St. Ivo and I think you said you were staying near the Pantheon so that might be a good opportunity. What do you think? Hopefully we can work something out - if not in advance - then perhaps when we are actually in Roma!

Here's another try:

As we will be staying at a hotel and having breakfast there, I think a light non-Italian lunch (maybe panini) would be better for us.

However, if all else doesn't work out, I could always have another espresso.

Hi Marian -
this is not looking good for a get together. We have lunch reservations that Sunday for a splurge and the rest of the schedule is really full now. Who would have thought that with two weeks in Rome one would be pressed for time??
I think I read that you are in Montclair? My husband is from Summit so we visit there fairly often. Perhaps we would have better luck comparing photos sometime after the trip! It sounds like you are all set with your preparations. I hope you and your grandaughter have a great time. What wonderful memories you will be giving her!

Marian's recent post in the forum alerted me to this one. I'm staying near Campo de' Fiori on my first trip to Rome. Am here as of yesterday through the morning of the 29th when I rent a car for Pienza for 3 nights and then on to Florence for the month of May. Female, 50+, traveling solo, managing not so badly with my recent 6 months of studying Italian at home in L.A. Did not do any advance planning as I my trip is long and didn't have a lot of time. In any case, except for my on-and-off a bus tour over the weekend, I have no concrete plans, so would love to meet anyone who is available. Am new to Slow Trav as of this trip.
