According to my present plans, I should be heading into Rome via Montepulciano on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Although unfortunately, I also see that it will be too late in the week for me to meet up with SJ and her May 19-23 schedule. But still, keep me in mind, okay? I also will traveling be solo throughout central Italy until the following Monday when my stepmother arrives from the USA. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye out on the GTG board for any further developments.

Thanks CS, I couldn't find this site before. I will be taking the train May 24th for Praino for 9 days. But if you are there before even May 23, maybe that will work. I am up for that lol. I am just playing it by ear. No big plans. Going at my own pace, no tours, just relaxing and enjoying Rome.

If I'm on my own, I'd be happier in a restaurant at night with some company!!
(The only downside of solo travel!!)

I will be sad at saying goodbye to my friends from Scotland in Florence on the morning of the 19th, so I might need some sympathetic company!!

I'm going to be staying in a flat between the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo; but I don't know any good places to eat or drink!
I looked up your past postings, and noticed the lovely apt. you have booked.
My friend and I are spending 4 n. in Rome at the beginning of our trip, before we go to Florence; so I've just emailed about a few of the SleepinItaly flats to se if they are available for us then.
Looks like a good site.
We haven't definitely booked our "sleeps" for that time yet!

We'll be staying in Ostia Antica fron May 17-20 and will probably dine in Rome the eve of the 17th and will come into town again probably.

I'm looking back at my posting about meeting up on the 23rd of May, and realizing I am completely out to lunch!!
I will be back in Canada by that night!!
I meant to say that May 19th would be the best night for me to meet up!!
As that is the day I arrive fom Florence, and will want to go out and about in the evening!!
My brain hurts with all the travel planning I've been doing.
So hope the 19th is alright for you all. (or the 20th, 21st or 22nd; if the 19th isn't good.)

We are in Rome from May 17-23. I have seen this thread, and we would love to meet up with all of you. We are just trying to firm up a couple of commitments first, but we are pretty flexible. We'll be there if at all possible!

Hi, I was just looking at the areas, Maybe the Fontana di Trevi would be a good area to meet? It seems to be close or more central to everyone. I think lol. Its so hard to tell from the maps I have been looking at. Experts, let us know..Please

How about a progressive tour through all the rental apartments, so we can see what they are all like for our next visits to Rome?
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a nosy so and so!
Palma and Brad and I have met before, so can hopefully vouch for each other's characters: (can't be too careful these days!!)
We can have a drink and a snack in each place; nothing fancy; and end up in the middle so we can all get "home" easily.
Mimi; perhaps you can become a SlowTrav member; then we can PM ,for security?
Just an idea.
We can meet elsewhere if people are not comfy with that idea.

If you look on the Italy board, I had asked for suggestions for Rome restaurants, and got quite a few replies with good recommendations.
Have a look, and then we can decide between us where to meet.
Who is definitely coming on the 19th?
So far, I only have Mimi and me!, with Palma and Brad a maybe; don't know about Tony da Roma.
Who would like to move the evening to later in the week?
CelticMuse had posted that they would be there from the 21st.

I am available the 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd; so really it doesn't matter to me! We have to eat every night, so I'm happy to make it any evening!
