Is anyone around for an ST GTG dinner July 13, 14 or 15? I have a conference at Yale and thought it might be fun to see some slowtravelers in the area.

Unfortunately, my flight goes thru Chicago. However, I may need to "play a little hookey" during the conference and if I knew how long and what trains to take, I might be able to hookey up with you!

I'm so unfamiliar with that territory that I really need some guidance about about getting from point A to point B........Can you help???

Given your question in the North America forum about getting from NY to New Haven, I am (was) assuming that you are flying into one of the NY airports. So then you will be taking a train up to New Haven from NY, and the same in reverse, I guess.

So ----- if you get into Manhattan on a train (and it's too bad about all the construction, geez..) and have some time before your flight back home, I thought we could get together.


What airport are you flying into? This would help me give you some guidance...

Actually, my assistant made my reservations and it turns out I fly into Hartford. Wondering if I can sneak away during some of the conference and meet up with you someplace. If it's too much hassle we'll have to plan for another time, but I just don't know that area well enough to understand the distance/time elements involved.....you know what I mean?

Ahh.

New Haven is about 90 miles ENE from NYC, and Hartford is at least 30 miles further, to the north. So I guess we won't be able to get together this time.

The good news for you is that you have an easier trip (I think) from the airport to New Haven. But I can't help you there as I know nothing about instate Connecticut transportation.
