So, it's coming closer and closer...Joanna's Dancing Man
My granddarling TiaD and I were talking earlier this afternoon about our trip this summer and it dawned on me that it's about time to start posting about a GTG while we are in Paris.

If you would like to meet us for lunch, a picnic in Jardins Luxembourg or something delightful like that, let's plan!

July is a warm month.
A picnic in the Versailles garden (admission free!) is not out of the question. And a picnic appeals to children too.
Sunday afternoon will also have the fountains going. But in that case bring food AND ear plugs if you don't want to sacrifice your eardrums to the garden's pathetic sound system. We'll just communicate by pantomime.

Some of us oldsters find sitting on the grass to be a tad uncomfortable.

Tom and Judy,
I understand about sitting on the grass. I was thinking more of taking up table and chairs, if there are any available in the gardens.

If it's beastly hot at that time, trust me, I want an air-conditioned restaurant! I know, I know, I'm a bit of a baby/princess, but I don't want to sit and roast in the heat of the day.

Americana in Parigi,
Thanks for the heads up about the fountains. This is my first time in this area of Paris, so I am green as grass when it comes to knowing what would work for everyone. I'm totally open to options!

chachalaca... Frown Awwww, no, that would have been cool!

Mods, would you please move this post to the GTG section for me?
Merci beaucoup!

Brenda, I will keep on eye on this thread. We will still be based in Paris but we do have some short trips planned. When I find out what our schedule is, I will let you know if we can come. Wine Wine

We may have to bump this GTG date up a little, maybe closer to the 7th or 8th, as I have just booked our flights and darling TiaD leaves for home around the 12th. I'd love it if she could be there to meet my ST friends. She has been lurking in the shadows on the board, reading all of your posts and topics, soaking everything up and getting more excited as the days go by.

So, I'll stay in touch and plan this as it unfolds! Hopefully, there will be a great group of Slowtravellers in Paris when we are there, as well!

Topping this, just to let you know that we'll be available for a GTG with everyone anytime on the 7th, 8th, 9th of July. TiaD and I will arrive in Paris on the previous weekend and she leaves for home on the 11th, so these dates seem most likely for us.
Are there other days that are better for anyone else?

I'm thinking an early dinner with lots of time after for visiting would be perfect, later on when the day has cooled down a little, considering the possibility that we will be experiencing some hot weather then.

I'm also wide open for suggestions for a great spot to meet, so please let me know where you think wold be good! Somewhere in the 6th, near Luxembourg Jardins would make it easy for us...and I know my way around that area a little bit.

Toping, again!

Tom and Judy, Americana in Parigi, just travels, Dave and Arlynn...if you are able to join us, what day and time is best for you for a lunch or dinner GTG in Paris? A weekday or on the weekend?

We're good to go for these days:
July 8
July 9
July 12 - 17

If it is scorching hot while we are there, let's choose a cool location, please! An A/C'ed location or evening when it is cooler?
