Hi Corinna, yes I was just thinking the same thing, time to top the message again, as we are drawing closer!

Here's the list as we know it as of today:

Janet and Alan
Ann and Carl (that's my sister and brother-in-law)
Valerie #1 (my friend who will be at the villa with us)
Pauline and Steve
Barb and Art
Jane, Ken, and Casey
Judith
Letizia
Giulia
Alessandra
Palma and Brad
KimC and Kevin Clark
Diane, Pio, and Dante

MarciaB and David

wow!

33 adults, 4 children!!

--------------------------------------
We will post directions to the villa closer to the date.
--------------------------------------
March 11 UPDATE
This is going to be a casual but catered lunch starting at 1pm and going all afternoon. Corinna will provide the lunch at a cost of 15 Euro per person (pay Pauline - she is organizing this). We will provide bottled water and Janet and Alan are providing some wine, but if some others could also bring wine, that would be great.

MENU

This may change, but this is an idea of what it will be. There will be vegetarian options.

- different types of bruschettas (with garlic, tomatoes, vegetables...)
- a pasta dish (vegetarian)
- porchetta or prosciutto (cut at the moment) and fresh bread
- roasted vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, zucchini....)
- panzanella (a local dish with fresh salad and vegetables from our garden and bread)
- local cheeses with honey and home made jams
- home made cakes and 'crostate'
- coffee
- water

How lovely! Of course we don't mind children - Jane's grandson Casey will be there too, so they can all have fun together!

Yes it looks like we will have a few children...Casey and also, I think, Dante who should be about Casey's age if Diane's profile is up to date Smile

Pauline, can you please edit the guest list above to include Corinna's family?

You may add us to the list. I have tweaked the itinerary so that we may now spend two nights in the area. Now I just have to decide where Cool.

Looking forward very much to the Umbria GTG!

I updated the list. Great news Marcia!! There should be good hotels in Assisi or Spello or Bevagna or Montefalco. The villa is just outside of Assisi on the way to Spello.

Well, I'm excited.

Thanks Pauline for the update and the advice. Right now I'm thinking we may look at staying an hour or so north (since we are coming from the north and returning north after our two day Fast Travel adventure). Think David could drive back an hour or so after our long leisurely day outside Assisi.

Back to the map (also working on Savannah lodging Roll Eyes).

Excuse me if this is covered in this thread somewhere, but I'm in a hurry! How/to whom do we pay? We are in Italy, but could have an American bank send a check to someone. I'm assuming you want payment ahead of time, or otherwise "at the door"? We may also have our grandson, who will be 6 years old!

Now that I have gotten us to Umbria for a few days, David and I were thinking we might try to make a return visit to the Paolo Bea winery the morning of the GTG.

Giampero Bea tells me he is available at 10 am. If anyone would like to join us for the tour and tasting, send me a PM and I will give you the details and cost - it gets less expensive with more people - we had a wonderful visit there in July '05.

Yes, we might be interested too! If we have two kids with us, however (8 year old son and 6 year old grandson) it may just be my husband who goes. Please send more details to debp1234 AT yahoo DOT com. many thanks

This great event will be shortly before we return to the US. We have lots of things to dispose of prior to then. Are there going to be any expats or Italian residents going to the GTG that might need somethings. i.e printer, food stuff, Christmas wrapping paper and some other items. If so, PM me and I'll see what we can do.

Update: I have sent everyone on the list a PM with directions and contact information. Please reconfirm your attendence as soon as you can, so that we can get a head-count for the catering. Confirm here or via PM or email to me.

Of course, its still not to late for more folks to join in!!

Hi Janet, I will definitely be there. Are there going to be any children that speak Italian? If this is the case, I'd come with my 6 years old daughter as well.

Letizia--Casey does; however, if there are several English speaking kids, he might end up reverting to that. If your daughter is outgoing and strikes up a conversation with him, he would give it back.

Also, of course Corinna's children speak Italian...that is, if they are of speaking age. Confused They may be too young to speak much Wink I am not sure! Hopefully Corinna will chime in here and help me!

Letizia--Casey does

Thank you Janet, that will be more than enough. Tea is very shy at the beginning, but ends up telling everybody else what to do!

QUERY:

It has been suggested that we should move the GTG start time up till later in the afternoon so as to avoid the hottest part of the day. What would people think of starting at 3 or 4 instead of 1 pm? I realize that many have made plans for staying overnight, or may be driving from afar, so we will ONLY move the time if it inconveniences no one and if folks like the idea!

What do you think? Leave it at 1 or move it up till later in the afternoon?
