Wow, what great photos from both Barb and Jane's slide show. The next best thing to being there. Glad you all had such a wonderful time. The food looked pretty good too!

We are back in Switzerland where it is much cooler!

The GTG was really wonderful - we both had a great time. I took lots of video - and will try to get it posted soon after we get home.

Thanks to Janet for arranging it, to Corinna for a great meal and providing the lovely villa, and to everyone who came. I got to meet several people that I had always wanted to meet - and to meet again with SlowTrav friends.

We've been off-line all weekend while trying to beat the heat in Umbria (someone told me that it was 42 C on Thursday), but I just wanted to add my thanks to Janet for hosting such a great event and to Corrina and her family for the marvelous job of looking after us. Thank you...thank you...thank you!!

It was wonderful to meet so many people we already felt like we knew from the board and to catch up with those we'd already met. This really is a great group of folks who are both a great resource for learning about travel and a really fun bunch to hang around with.

I'll try to take a look at our photos tonight and post any good ones, but they're competing with Harry Potter, so I don't know if I'll get there until the book is finished Smile.

Wow-what a fabulous GTG! Thanks to Barb for the wonderful recap and Barb and Palma for the beautiful pictures. The food and setting look so luscious and it is so nice to see the faces of so many STers having a grand time. I want to come vsit all of you! (I'm am working on Jim to re-visit you in the fall of 2008 Letizia).

Add me to the group that is thrilled to hear that Rebecca has promised to resume writing her delightful essays. Can't wait! Big Grin

Yes, it was a terrific time, the food was great, the wine was plentiful and the company even better. I haven't posted my few pictures yet, but I will today.

A big big thanks to Janet for the idea and organization. And huge thanks to Corinna and her family for hosting it and working their butts off in that heat. She even provided bowls of ice.

All-in-all just fantastic.

We are back home and able to add our thank-you's to everyone who had anything to do in the planning and execution of that wonderful afternoon in the amazing heat, easily over 100.
To Janet for offering her "prize", to Pauline for organizing the "collection" and especially to Corinna and her family for the beautiful buffet, the set-up, and the everflowing cold drinks, even some ice!

Our pictures are coming and I still have not had time to look at the others, but we have the memories and really hope that there will be other oportunities like this again.

I'm back home! Got home last night and am only vaguely conscious this morning (and unfortunately I had to return to work Frown

Wanted to check in and say thanks to everyone for making the Great Umbria GTG truly special! It was so great to meet you all and put faces to all the names I've seen and the "personas" I've known for so long! Now I know the real people and they are all fantastic as expected Big Grin

Thank you all too for bringing so much great wine and various foods...thanks to Diana for sending food and wine in absentia...everyone was so generous!

And of course, thanks especially to Corinna for hosting at the fabulous Villa Rosy and for handling the catering which was absolutely delicious. I only wish I had eaten more because I was so busy mingling that I didn't get to taste everything! Wink

I have only a few photos of the GTG (see above--too busy mingling!) but I will add some to the album as soon as I can.

Letizia! I love that expression!
I always use it when referring to my daughters
but 'conosco i miei polli' sounds much better to me! Wink

In fact I am sure that the sentence has absolutely no sense in English, but some American friend used to find the translation irresistible.

I am finally going through my photos from the trip and the GTG...I was starting to process some from the GTG but in looking at the album it doesn't seem that I got anything (or anyone) that Palma and Barb haven't already posted. I really wasn't paying much attention to taking photos (for a change!) but was too busy hanging out with everyone.

However, I did just want to post this one of our lovely hostess and one of her beautiful daughters. Thanks so much to Corinna and all her family!
