Several of us (Doug Phillips, cigalechanta, and Charley and me) will be in the Luberon in mid September, potentially overlapping on September 16 and 17. Perhaps this is a great time for another Provence GTG and the chance to get together with Kevin and other Slow Travelers who live in the area.
Post here if you are interested. We've got lots of time to figure out the details!

Perhaps we can do something in Bonnieux this time as it sounds like you'll be coming with your group so that makes for quite a number already sur place ??
The terrace at the Tinel would make a great spot for dinner.
It's hard to find old cigales. I found a silver metal inkwell in a shop in Lourmarin and a wooden wall pocket in Aix. After a month of looking for a place we could afford, we ended up booking in Maussane and only after did I realize it's called Cigale.

If this works for everyone else, I'd like to suggest Monday, September 17th for our GTG.
I'd like to suggest Domaine de Layaude Basse which is just outside Lacoste. (They have a website here but the English site isn't active yet, so look at the French site.) This is a B&B that has offered a table d'hotes (we ate there twice last fall) and has just expanded as a restaurant. They also do catering. It's a beautiful country setting looking to the north with a three-course menu that is 27 euro. The menu changes frequently and all our meals have been excellent. They handled our group of 11 very well last week, and I think it would be a great place for a group-- outside on the terrace if the weather is right or inside. We have met the owner and I would be happy to coordinate arrangements with him for our GTG when we are back in Bonnieux this summer. (We will definitely be eating there this summer.)
How does September 17th sound to everyone? (We have time to decide on the place...)

I'm going to go ahead and ask to change the title of this thread to confirm the date as Monday, Septemer 17. And when we're back in Bonnieux next month I'll talk to the Layaude Basse about our group.
In the meantime, if anyone else is nearby in Provence in mid-September, we'd love to have you join us!
Ed, we'll look forward to meeting you and your wife on the 17th. Brenda, sorry that we will just miss you. (And Chris, you know you are ALWAYS welcome!)
So far, it looks like our group will be:
Kevin (and Elizabeth?) Mimi (cigalechanta) and ? Doug and Liz David (charlesw) and Marianne Ed and wife Kathy (kaydee) and Charley Luberon Experience group (9)
Hi Doug, thanks for the greeting. My wife and I are renting a villa outside Bonnieux for September and the first 2 weeks of October. We will have some friends visit during that time, but other than that we have no specific plans other than enjoying Provence...Ed

Hey - I have a great idea! There is a frequent ST poster whose birthday is September 17, and whose ST moniker begins with Mother..... Wouldn't it be a neat idea to surprise her with a round trip ticket from San Francisco to somewhere in France (Paris, Marseille -- she's not picky) as a special birthday present?????? Then she could join you for this GTG...
Everyone in favor, send $$$$..
Have a great GTG without me...sniff...sniff...sniff..

Judy, I'm definitely in favor of the idea!!! (But not sure my contribution will make much of a dent in the cost of an airline ticket...) You know you are always welcome!
Meanwhile, for everyone else... we had a wonderful dinner at the Domaine de Layaude Basse last night with some friends who have been with us this weekend. It is such a beautiful and peaceful spot, with a wonderful view, especially at the sunset. I spoke to the chef about our group, and will go back to meet with him about the arrangements.
Since our group will likely be something like 18-20 people (not a problem), he did ask if we could make our choices in advance. I think it would be possible to choose from two or three items for each course and I'll work with him on the menu. This would enable them to plan ahead and serve a large group properly.
So my question today is... does anyone have anything they don't eat? I think we have at least one vegetarian? I want to be sure that there will be at least one good choice for everyone-- last night, for example, the three main course choices were gigot d'agneau, carre de porc, and noix St. Jacques-- my choice and very very good. The price for their three course meal is 27 euro... very reasonable. And again, the setting is very very special.
Post here or send me a private message or e-mail (address in my profile) if you have any dietary needs. I'll post again with the menu, and we can coordinate later on about the selections.
And we still welcome anyone else who lives in Provence or will be here on September 17th!
