My wife and I will be in Pienza between September 6-15 and in Rome between September 4-5 and back in September 16-28 incl., and would love to meet Slow Travellers and residents members who will be available for a date during these periods. Coffee, lunch, dinner, walks, all are good excuses to share impressions and to get to know the faces behind the nicknames.

Pienza will be a base and we will drive around the region. The dates of September 10-14 have no commitments.

In Rome we will make our plans from day to day, with a lot of flexibility.

If more of us wish to meet, that would be an opportunity for a GTG.

We already have a date set, September 5, to meet Doug Phillips and family in Rome.

Edited to add year in title.

We arrive in Chianciano Terme on September 13 for 4 days. I don't know proximities but it would be fun to set something up if possible.

Hi, Kim! 25-30 minutes drive between the two, with Montepulciano atractively placed somewhere half-way. And Pienza may be one of your targets anyway.

You arrive on the 13th; we leave on the 15th. Let's keep the date of September 14 in mind and talk some more before we leave and will exchange points of contact if a meet is doable.

Kim, may I suggest that you mark the details of your trip in the Slow Travel Trip Calendar? More on this by clicking here. Thank you!

Rome between September 4-5

Doru, My Hubby and I are in Rome from September 1st through the 7th. We would love a get together and a chance to learn on our first trip from one of the great ST'ers. We leave on the 7th so maybe not that day I am sure I will be depressed.

Kat, since we arrive on the 4th and leave on the 6th, the obvious option is the 5th, when we have also arranged to meet with our member Doug Phillips and family. I believe they will stay in Trastevere, and we will be near Sant'Andrea della Valle (Campo dei Fiori is near).

This may yet develop into a mini-GTG!

Hi, I'm a Roman ST member... It could be nice to meet someone from Toronto! Although my English is quite bad, probably we could arrange to meet in one of the day you will be in Rome; is there any place that you never visited in the city? May be I can come and take you by car...Hoping the traffic will not be terrible as usual! Write me a line, if you like,
Ciao

Lia, I was hoping that some of our Roman residents will be available and willing to meet.

There are many parts of Rome we haven't seen yet; this is why I would like to return to Rome as often as possible, and hope to be able to do so: I don't think the kind of interest we have in the city will be easily exhausted.

You may also have lots to discuss with Josette, my wife, who is a classically trained musician and a piano teacher. I love classical music as well and, in fact, sometime in August Josette and I will spend a few evenings in front of the PC, as we always do, buying some tickets on line for concerts or recitals or opera during our stay in Rome.

So this is a very long introduction to a short answer: we would love to meet you.

We will stay on Via dei Chiavari and would readily go anywhere in Rome to meet.

And I bet your English is way better than my Italian!

I am so dull... I can't for the life of me locate the trip calendar link on the forum page. I will find it though! Regardless, Pienza is on our list and I've earmarked the 14th of September, for lunch perhaps?, or Montepulciano. We're completely flexible, so you pick... we're in no rush and it is, after all, your second to last day so your priorities are certainly different than ours! We are staying at Hotel Minerva in Chianciano Terme.

Hi - We (hubby and I) plan to be in Rome between the 13th to the 18th of September - first trip.

If you become available during the second part of your trip to Rome, we would love to have coffee or whatever.

Unfortunately, we will just miss Doug Phillips, but we are hoping to meet up with him in Aix or somewhere in the area, the following week.

I will be very pleased to meet you in Rome, and also to hear that your wife is involved with piano and music...as I work also in a classical concerts season in Rome (Unfortunately we start our season on 13 october!). Do not hesitate to ask me anything about tickets and concerts in Rome, probably I can help you (and probably when you will be in Rome you will teach to me something about Rome that I still don't know!!! Smile).

Husband and I, and another couple, will be in Rome sometime between Sept 23 and 28. It would be such fun to meet anyone from this board. We are very flexible.

Sassicat, any of the dates from September 24-27 incl. would be fine.

I figure on the 28th we will be too stressed out with packing and the thought of leaving...

Let's keep in touch and we definitely will arrange to meet. We can set a date and exchange Rome contact information as we get into mid-to-late August.

Doru-

We actually will be in Florence, Venice, then Perugia from the 13th of August on. If we could set up a time before that I would really like that. Only if we are not impeding on your time with The Philips family. We could just do it at a different time on the same day if that is what your parties prefer. Thanks to Colleen we now have a cell phone so we could always email the phone number when we land.

Lia, we are from Minnesota (neighbors of Canada, similar weather) Wink If you would like to grab a bite, or a drink, or whatever your pleasure drop me a line.

Kat, I am corresponding with Lia on a lunch on September 5th, present proposal is Dar Pallaro, a restaurant near Sant'Andrea della Valle just off Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Potential participants: Doug and family, us, you and hubby, hopefully Lia and maybe more... We will know within a short time if Dar Pallaro will take a group of about 10.

Regarding email: once away, I use a Hotmail address which I will communicate to all by Private Message or email.

I also hope to have the telephone number I will use in Rome prior to your departure.

Logistics, logistics...

Once you set a date, I'll see if I can motor across the calf to meet and finally settle the question: who is really the elder?

I hope to meet Kim Tytler in Pienza on Friday, September 14th? Is that OK for you to drive just to meet?

And, Judith, we have a very flexible agenda for September 12th and 13th. We could meet somewhere half-way; you'd know better where it would work out best.

It's a bit soon to say, Doru. If I get a job I need to work. Since I am not yet as established as Diva, it comes in erratically.
