Anyone want to get together for another Saturday of betting the ponies at Del Mar and then dinner and wine at the Vine?

The date that seems the best at this point is August 12.

Let me know...

Umm, Shannon, August 12 is a Tuesday. Do you mean the 9th or the 16th? Based on a conversation with my daughter last night (she says they are moving the weekend of the 9th) I think we may only be free on the 16th. But maybe they can move without us.

Thanks for pointing that out, Marcia. I was looking at July. Roll Eyes

I can't do the 16th, I have to go to Dallas for a conference. So, I can the 2nd or the 9th of August.

Unless you all want to come down on a Tuesday. Razz

We will be in Cabo on the 2nd, so it would have to be the 9th for us.

We are a maybe for this year.

We were actually there on last year's date and drove right past the racetrack before we met some friends for lunch in Del Mar.

Had a concert that night, though, so couldn't have made dinner at the Vine. Don't want to miss it this year though!

Shannon, any hotels or B&B's close by the Vine? Walking distance would be good!

Let's shoot for the 9th.

Nancy, that would be so great if you could come! There are some B & B's and hotels within walking distance - check out last year's thread for details.

Count me in! The 9th works well for me.

As an aside, I was in Toronto visiting my father on last year's Pinot & Ponies day. Ironically, that afternoon we just happened to tune into the horse racing channel, which was broadcasting from Del Mar! So, I was definitely there with you all in spirit!

Been thinking about this... it's time that I pay my friend, AnnieK, a visit so perhaps I can do it on this weekend.

AnnieK, want to go to Pinot and Ponies???? (She moved to Carlsbad a year or so ago.) It's in your neighborhood, AnnieK.

If I can talk my kids to take the grandkids to LegoLand, I can bunk with them at La Costa. It is close to there, right?

Hi Shannon. I remember we talked about the possibility of me coming out this year, but I will have to settle on trying to make this happen next year. I would need a little more advanced planning to coordinate with my husband's trip to the ponies, too. Maybe next year around the end of July? That's when he likes to go.

Have fun everyone!

As long as I'm not on the road I'm in! I've still never been down to San Diego. It's high time I get there. Wink

Sounds perfect to me.......Yes, yes, yes! And maybe I'll stay down there that night, too, so I can drink lots of wine at The Vine!

Shannon, can we sneak wine again? That was my favorite part.

Kathy, I can't believe you haven't been to SD yet. You need to get down here, girl..

Marcia, you guys have to go...it's "tradition".

Here is the DEAL of the summer! I just booked us for 2 nights in Little Italy for 90 bucks a night! Our friends stayed here and loved it. Plan on another $10 a night for parking in their garage, but for San Diego area in the summer...this is a GREAT price!

Palma, that's rated the top budget hotel in San Diego! I'd stay there in a hot minute as it looks really cool. Must consider...

Wow, Palma does budget. Welcome to my world. Wink Grin

Thanks, Palma for passing this info on - going to check this out now. Should we actually get down there, we will need a place to stay for sure.

Yes, even world class shoppers like to save money. Besides, I'd rather spend mine in Italy!
AND the bonus (except that we have to drive to and from the Vine) is the Italian street market on Saturday mornings!
