Hello Slow Travelers!
It was great to meet all of you and I hope you had half as much fun as John and I did! Thanks for all your kind remarks about the weekend. Thanks, also, for bringing the wine and all the lovely "hostess gifts".
I've been absent from ST because we have been hosting some Belgian friends who arrived on Sunday afternoon and just left today. I guess we're now trying to figure out how we can include a trip to Brussels when we're in France. These friends have a home in Provence and we have them to thank for introducing us to that special region of France.
Once again, it was such a pleasure having all of you here and we're sorry that several who had planned to come weren't able to make it. We're really enjoying the photos from the weekend. Thanks for posting!
And a special thank you to Leslie for all the organization. Great job, Leslie!
Linda

Good Morning!!! Thanks to everyone for continuing to post pictures from the GTG. We have some as well but I am waiting for my tech person (Brent) to post them. I know there are a few others who also haven't had a chance to upload, download, or whatever the heck you do to get them on this site.(See I am so not a tech person!!) Have a great day everyone!! All the Best,

Don't feel like you're alone in this, Leslie. After 2 or 3 tries, I finally had to have Marta post mine for me. Thanks goodness for Marta!

Brad downloaded our photos Monday morning after I already left for work. WHen I got home to post them on Slow Photos, there were only THURSDAY night! I called him in a panic, as there were 100 photos MISSING. He had DELETED everything on the camera!!! Last night, as promised, he came home from Pasadena and downloaded a file recovery program, and it got back ALL but THREE pictures! Not bad out of 141! Whoo hoo! Brad is out of the house! I'll post them tonight!

Hello all, Doyle, Angela, Bucky , and I just got back last evening from the Brevard/Cashiers area after several days of waterfall hunting. I had problems connecting at the place we were staying, so this is the first chance I've had to add my kudos to all of those already posted here. First, I want to say how much I enjoyed meeting everyone. Second, I, too, want to thank Linda, John, and Bill for their exceptional hospitality - and in such a delightful and beautiful home! I also want to say how impressed I was by Kelly and Riley. They certainly are outstanding representatives of the younger generation. And the food Friday night and at the HobNob was fabulous! I'm looking forward to seeing y'all again (perhaps in my newer, thinner reincarnation). Ann

Great photos - thanks for posting them!! Steve and I look "red" in the Saturday photos because we got a lot of sun on Saturday afternoon (so we were red)!! We went for a hike on the Biltmore Estate. We got home last night. We had a great trip - the GTG was the highlight. We got to explore Asheville, Charlottesville and Chapel Hill. The weather was sunny and warm most days - and there were more trees than I thought possible in these towns!!

Ah! That's one of the important differences between the SW US and the eastern states and one of the things I like best about the NC mountains. I have felt green deprived on those occasions when I've been in the SW or parts of California. I had a funny experience a few years ago at the Kansas City airport (which just makes it into the green belt). A young girl, apparently from AZ or NM, was complaining that she couldn't get used to all the green trees !!! That just blew my mind! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, and I was delighted to meet you. What did you like most about Chapel Hill? Ann
