Several of us have been wanting to dine at Dino's, Dean Gold's new restaurant in DC. (FYI --- Dean is a former ST moderator).

So maybe it's "worth a trip", and we should plan a date. I could do any March weekend except the weekend of March 11. What about you folks?

M

(Title edited by Marian as, thanks to Jim Zurer, we now know that Dino's is open only for dinner.)

Shoot! I was hoping for a June GTG at Dino's, to celebrate Slow Trav's 5th Anniversary!

I'm flexible! Just getting hungry and didn't want to wait that long. Pig

April is tricky for me, and I will be away in May until 21st, but almost any time in June is ok, except the weekend of June 3.

I guess there's no reason there can't be one in March (so you don't have to wait Big Grin ) and another Dino's GTG in June. Cool

I'd love to meet fellow ST's at Dino. When we went in October, I met Chiocciola who noticed my SlowTrav tag on my bag!
I'm free any weekend in March except March 3-5, and can do May and June except for May 26-29.
Or sooner! I wrote a mini review in the "Everything Else" forum after our trip. It was wonderful....

I'm thinking if we do this as a lunch, I can make a day trip of it on Amtrack. March is tough only b/c I have both girls' birthdays. The fourth and 11th work for me.

At this point, Dino's is only open for dinner.

I am basically available whenever....and we can have multiple GTGs.

Thanks, Jim. I've just edited the thread title to reflect that.

We're up for either March or June! Anytime actually except for Easter week, as we'll be in Spain. I hope we are talking about a weekend date, though...could only do it on a weekend.

Well, I'm ready for tomorrow...

The only problem with March is that we may be in Puglia during the last two weeks. But I'm local enough that it's not a big deal to make it at almost any time.

I live two metro stops away from Dino's so I'll be there no matter what date is decided on... So far, my only planned trip is for Christmas (Norway, December 22 - January 2). So I am up for dinner at Dino's any time... I haven't been back since the time I met Joana there, but plan to do so soon!

Okay - so dinner. Marian, were you thinking of going down Saturday, coming home Sunday - or are you planning on making a trip of it?

If we get some STers down in DC overnight, we can do a whirlwind tour of Italy-related sites in DC.....

I look forward to further developments.

Kim & Jim --- I would stay overnight; too much driving for one day back and forth. Maybe stay a second night, but probably not. But it seems that no one can make the same dates, so I am a bit stymied here. All is OK for me xpt the 11th (famous tickets for "Wicked" with Karlie). So shall we think about the weekend of the 4th?

And --- shouldn't we check with Dean to make sure he can handle us?

And Jim --- Very good, STers and whirlwind tour in the same post.... Wink

So are the weekends in Jan and Feb out?

They're out for me, as I have ballet and theater tickets for many Sundays. (That's just the way my subscriptions seem to work.) Only opening that's not a President's birthday time is Jan 22. And frankly, the odds of bad weather are just too high at that time of year.

But Colleen is talking about a big deal GTG there in June, so who knows???

It doesn't mean that we can't have more than one, does it?

Of course not! Eek I was pointing out to Bottegal that other opportunities await her in the future.

We are still up for March...and would probably stay two nights--come down Friday night and back up Sunday. Not sure if we'd train it or drive. And so yes we'd definitely be up for touring around on Saturday. Its been a long time since we've been to DC. Someone just pick a firm date Big Grin and yes, it would be a good thing to make sure Dino's can accommodate us!

Oh wait...I just realized that March 4th really isn't a good time for us, as I forgot that February is a short month--and we will be away for President's week, returning Feb 27. So that means that the weekend of the 4th is our first weekend back from Costa Rica. So that won't work Frown But we could do later in March.

March 4th is the only time that month we can't make it- we have to be in Cleveland for a wedding shower! If we do it later in the month, the weather might be nicer Smile However, we can probably do any weekend in June if Colleen is coming then.
A walking tour of DC by Jim Zurer sounds great, too.

The weekend date that works for a GTG with Angie--if the out of town folks are planning to come to DC--would be Saturday, March 11. Unfortunately that is the date that Marian can't make it. Could it be another night during that time that Angie is available that would accommodate potential visitors from outside the D.C. area?

Sorry, Angie, but the 11th is the one weekend I cannot make it. However, if it is good for everyone else, then go ahead.

Hope we will see you in NY, however.
