Charley and I will be in Provence (Bonnieux) from September 13 - October 2.

Although we've got some other commitments, we would love to be part of a Slow Travel GTG.

I thought I'd go ahead and post this so we can begin identifying who may be there. I have a separate item posted for a possible July/August GTG.

Kathy

Well, Kathy, as indicated in the PM, we hope to be there in mid September (estimated September 13-20), but will finalise dates upon return from Italy at the end of May, unless Kevin calls earlier.

A GTG would be great; if not, will have a mini-GTG if your new duties will permit! But I will do my best to meet you, adventurers, anyway!

Kathy, my husband and I would certainly enjoy a GTG with Slow Travellers. So far, the week we are in the Luberon (Sept. 16-23) is safest for us since we have not nailed down our itinerary afterwards.

Hi, we'll be in St. Saturnin Apt from the 17th-22nd of September and would love to meet some of you. We did this in Mexico last Dec with the Loco Gringos and had a blast. Janice

Hi
We would be happy to host a GTG for people at our B&B, Mas Pomona, in Cheval Blanc.
From our point of view it would be, to say the least, interesting to meet some Slow Travellers and exchange ideas.
We have mailed Kathy and she is happy to coordinate things.
I hope that we can work something out and have a convivial evening.

Steve and I look forward to a possible GTG in Provence. We've never attended one, but would enjoy meeting some people. We will be renting a house in Bedoin, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, from Sept 3-30. We will have our laptop with us, so hopefully will be able to stay in touch. We leave on August 28th, and would love to know if something is planned.

David (charles w.) and I have been coordinating together, and we would like to propose Tuesday, September 19th for our GTG in Provence.

David and Marianne have offered to host us at their beautiful B&B, Mas Pomona, just outside Cheval Blanc on the west end of the Petit Luberon. Charley and I had a chance to visit with them in the spring, and this will be a great spot for our gathering. (See www.maspomona.com for photos and a map.)

We were thinking of getting together for apertifis at Mas Pomona about 6 pm. Charley and I will be hosting our first Luberon Experience group, who will join the GTG. (Our group includes some Slow Travelers.) After our GTG we are planning to go to dinner at a nearby restaurant (more details later), and anyone who wants to join us is definitely welcome.

We hope that everyone who is based in the Luberon or who may be visiting during that time will be able to join our group. Post here and let us know if this works for you!

À bientôt!

Kathy

Hi, we would love to go but I'm just wondering how far of a drive it will be back to where we are staying at St. Saturnin Les Apt and how it would be driving at night. Thanks and it sounds great-Janice & Gus

Hi Janice,

According to Via Michelin, it's a 43 minute drive from Cheval Blanc to St. Saturnin, most of it on the N100, a straight and easy road to drive.

We really hope you can come, and I know you were looking forward to a GTG. I talked to Kevin the other day, and we hope his and Elisabeth's schedule will allow them to be there too.

If the nighttime driving concerns you (not bad-- really!), maybe you could join us at Mas Pomona for our GTG (an hour and a half or so) and head back closer to St. Saturnin for dinner. And you might even want to plan your day to do something to the west, then just stop at Cheval Blanc on your way back...

Hope this is helpful--

Kathy

Thanks for the info Kathy. If it's a straight shot then count us in & we'll try and go to dinner too as long as my husband is comfortable with the drive. Janice & Gus

Kathy, we are delighted that our Luberon Experience with you will also include a chance to meet up with more folks from this board and also to visit Mas Pomona. Of course, we are counting on you for transportation, lucky us. So, do include Fred and me. I'll watch this board for further details.

We would definitely like to come, in fact I was really hoping for it, Kathy, but I am frankly concerned about driving at night or even late evening in an area totally unknown to me. I was hoping for a lunch gathering, really. But let's see the final arrangements and maybe we will just come for an hour or so and then head back to Le Mas Perréal.

As Kathy rightly says, it is a pretty straightforward drive up the valley. And with so many of us heading over from here, I'm thinking we can just carpool or at least caravan to make life easier for all.

And many thanks to Marianne and David for offering to host ! (and Kathy and Charley for organizing)...

-Kevin

I would be OK with either option. I just didn't know that others will go from Mas Perréal to Mas Pomona, although I did hope this will be the case.

Steve and I will be there. It sounds like a wonderful event. We will be in Europe from August 28- Oct. 9, and in Provence for most of September. We'll drive down from Bedoin, and should have no trouble getting back that night.
It will be fun to meet some people, and we thank Kathy for organizing and David for hosting this activity.
So count us in, and we'll try to check for any additional details.

Boy, I'm with Diana--I'm SOOOOO jealous! I'm due to land in Venice on the 19th, which is also my 57th birthday. Anyone know of a helicopter I can rent?

We might be able to make it & it certainly sounds wonderful. But we are traveling with a 6yo ( she will be 6 by then as she turns 6 in Sept)so not sure how the group would feel about that.(Having older parents she is use to being with adults). Some people find kids a bummer,so thought I should make sure that was fine before planning. Is Kelly going to be with you?

We are going to be winging it as we go ( I have a vague plan getting us by RV from Amsterdam to Andalucia with the focus on France and Nothern Spain the first 2 months of Sept and Oct)so could possibly make it.We like to keep things open ended especially since we do not have any real time contraints,so will be following our hearts and whims as we go.We love France and Provence ,but our focus is on nothern Spain as we have never been there & want to catch it before the weather changes.

What a beautiful place ( parts of it reminds me of the home we built and sold to go on this world tour...that I still miss ) & we love to hear renovating stories (since we may do it someday)! Thanks to David and Marianne for hosting & you Kathy for organizing.

Kathy, we will be in St. Remy the following week. Are you still planning on being in Provence at that time with your second group? And is there anything in the works for a GTG for that week? I know you will be so busy, but just wondering. Can't wait-we leave in a month.

Really enjoying your blog-I feel like I'm already there.

For the September 19th GTG, we are seeing David and Marianne (and Kevin and Elisabeth) later this week and will post back with more details about our plans for the 19th. Lisa, that will be wonderful if you and your family are in the area and can join us!

Janet, we will still be in Provence the last week of September with our second group, and we'd really like to connect with you and Steve-- and any other Slow Travelers who may be in the area. Janet, I don't seem to have your e-mail address... mine is in my profile (click on my name on the left) if you want to e-mail me. I've got a couple of ideas of how we could meet up... It will be great to see you again-- and in another country!
