I am getting ready for an August trip to Tuscany -- I cannot eat gluten (wheat, rye, barley or oats). I've heard that Coop and Intercoop stores carry gluten-free products. I'm interested in any other suggestions on what to ask for, or where to shop. Thanks for your help!

I believe there is a very small section as it is becoming a problem here too!

yeah, I have found small gluten-free sections also at other supermarkets (Pam, Esselunga), but I also noticed that not all gluten-free foods are in this sections, for instance Galbusera makes gluten-free breakfast bisquits (to be dipped in caffelatte or tea) that are usually placed amongst all the others, at least at the supermarkets where I shop.
Also, there are lists of resturants that can fix a gluten-free meal on the web. www.celiachia.it it the site of the Italian association of people woith celiac disiease, with an english-language vademecum with lists of products and resturants.

There is a page that Pauline has created on SlowTrav that lists natural food restaurants or stores. I am thinking that this might be useful. Several of the recommendations came from this thread discussing Macrobiotic.

I did a quick web search and it looks like farro is not gluten free. It is on several do-not-eat lists.

I believe is it a low gluten flour ( not no gluten)... you must double check that it isn't just a high percentage of Farro!!!
