Palma, I'm looking forward to your selection. Maybe I set it up as a dessert bar, and let people use grappa or anything else I've got that they may want to try. I, myself, am leaning toward the 44Cordial.
Jan! I'm SO glad someone chose the Zucchini Olive Oil Cake!
OK, it's Saturday night and I'm off to start on my Babbo Breadsticks.

Terry, Kim beat you to it. She picked it for May 18th.

Terry, I'll let someone else break the bad news to you on that one.

I picked June 29th to bake, and now I see that I am being pre-empted by the GTG Picnic in the Redwoods in Northern California. It looks like a number of the usual bakers will be attending.
I am wondering if anyone will be baking with me. It won't be fun without any company . . .

Nancy, remember, people can bake at anytime during the week, they just post the results on Sunday. I would just hope everyone brings their results to the picnic.
Nancy, also remember that for the next several weeks, there will be a number of people traveling sans kitchen access , so we should just carry on. I, for one, will miss your baking week AND the redwoods picnic because we will be on a plane that day. I'm thinking that if I'm not too jet lagged, I will catch up on my baking projects the first week in July.
Don't worry Nancy, I'll be joining you. In fact, I will be in Montenegro that week. So I'm very happy at your choice. It should be possible to get all of those ingredients at the local markets. Plus the apartment we are renting has a really nicely equipped kitchen. Posting about it may be my biggest challenge.

1 -- Have Marta and Cindy Ruth have their choices yet.
2 -- What do you guys think of NOT using a cookbook for our next round. (beginning Aug 3rd) How do you like the idea of each of us selecting a baking recipe that is unique to our own experience or community? I'd love to try all of your favorite baking specialities! My selection would of course be: St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake.

Okay, I've chosen. As much as I love sweets, how about a savory. Taralli with Red Pepper and Oregano, pg. 272. It will be nice to have something that stores well(up to 2 weeks), although that's not been a problem yet. I think I ate 8 Lemon Semolina cookies from the freezer today!
Deborah-I think it would be fun to a round without a cookbook. And it's been a long time since I cooked or ate a St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake.
