No kidding. We were shopping there today and on the rack was this bottle of Brunello di Montalcino for $19.99. We bought a couple of bottles to try and according to the "wine guy" he said that TJ's made some deal with someone in Montalcino (he didn't know the vineyard) and were able to buy a limited number of cases.

The bottle says it's a '99. Apparently, it is made exclusively for a restaurant in Italy and that TJ's had to agree to put the initials of the place on the bottle - C.C. Huh? I don't know if I was being fed a line, but we thought for 20 bucks it's worth a try.

Has anyone else seen or tried it?

This sounds vaguely familiar but I thought someone said it's not from a single vineyard but grapes from throughout the area blended into a wine for TJs. Let me look and see if I can find the old discussion.

Does the brunello have a Trader Joe's label on it?

No Trade Joe label on the bottle. Scott opened one of the bottles this week and thinks it's pretty good.

I did not see the Brunello at the Trader Joes' I went to today. I was looking for Prosecco which I have bought there before but they are out and have been for awhile. I asked and they said there supplier is out and has no idea when it will be back in. Does anybody know where else to buy it. The liquor store doesn't have it either!!!!

Does Washington have Bev Mo's? I looked on their website and only see California locations.

The store I went to had about 10 Proseccos to choose from.

I've seen it at World Market (aka Cost Plus), DiLaurenti's in Pike Place Market, Central Market stores, and Larry's Markets. I hope there's something close to you.

Well.....? What's the verdict? Is it tasty? Trader Joe regularly sells an Amarone for somewhere in the mid teens that is a fabulous wing for the price.

My favorite is now gone- they had a Valpolicella for several months at 7.99 a bottle. Tremendous flavor- better than any Valpolicella I've tasted at twice the cost.

I wish we had a Trader Joes in Louisville. We don't have a Costco either. I own one single bottle of Brunello - bought in in Montalcino at the fortezza (I think it's called that). They told us to wait a few years to drink it.

Which winery was it from? And which vintage? Dean can probably give you info on it. He's our ST "Wine Guy"!
