The Market has been taken over by the Dark side of the Farm and Obi Wan Cannoli, Cuke Skywalker and Ham Solo lead the Organic Rebellion.

Have a look at this brilliant video about Organic Farming: Grocery STORE WARS

A friend posted the link to me some time ago and I LOVED it... I found it again last night and thought about posting it (and adding a link to my blog!): it's really fun but it also gives very clear information.

I have seen this before and it is a hoot!

But on a more serious note, the Organic industry is being taken over by factory farming. Horizon dairy is little better than non organic dairies in that it is a factory farm with issues regarding animal husbandry, waste etc. They don't use rBST and antibiotics, good things indeed. But their practices pale in comparison with Organic Valley or small priducers who are organic in the letter and spirit of the law. OPrganic does not imply sustainable.

In my opinion, the order we should support is:

Organic & sustinable
sustainable
organic factory
factory

Sonnet is my youngest daughter who has been on an Organic tear for the last 2 years. She is in her second year at the University of Florida, and her major is Enviornmental Policy.

Very clever. I thoroughly enjoyed it. They should show this in schools!

Thank you Ginger and... Blushing again...
Terry, you're right! They should show it in schools, it would be a hit! In my opinion the strawberry moment makes a good image to remember...
Dean, I agree with your concern about Organic Industry! On one side it's really difficult to survive as a small producer (mostly if you can't sell a lot in your area), on the other side of course a factory is a factory. In Italy luckily there are a lot of cooperatives that help enhance the small producer's market but that tend to be organic "in the letter and spirit of the law" as you say.
In Italy the products that are usually sold mostly by either very small producers or big companies are the fresh products (such as meat, milk and some veggies) as you need either a very local market or a huge organization to sell them.

I think "local" should be in there too, to support the small local farmers.
