My neighbor invited us over to watch SB, but requested that we all bring over a "bears-related" dish to share. She is making bbq beef (aka bbq bear). I am not into cleverly quipped food. I've come up with 3 ideas:

1. Bears Baked Beans
2. Mascarpone and Dulce de "Lovie" cheesecake
(for coach Lovie Smith)
3. Salad with blueberries and mandarin orange segments (Chicago Bears team colors are blue and orange)

Any ideas out there besides blue and orange jello mold (blah!) or Bears brownies with nasty colored frosting?

Thanks!
Sandra

Let's see, what can you make that would honor Gross... maybe not. Big Grin

P.S. My husband is a big, big Bears Fan. His grandfather played for the original team back in the Stone Age. Cool

It's Chicago, don't you have to have "bearwurst" (aka bratwurst)? Ooh, make them with puff pastry and you can have bears in a blanket.

Bearry cobbler?
Strawbearry shortcake?
Bearries and cream?
Bluebearry pie? muffins?

And since bears eat berries, you'd be covered!

I think that Whole Foods carried a line of chips and snacks with the brand name "Bearitos" -

Well, thanks for your suggestions. I talked to my neighbor today and she wants me to bring a salad. I am going to make my "famous" strawberry (or should I say "strawbeary") salad. I know that everyone who will be there loves it (which makes me feel like I should try something new, but heck with that; go with the winner). I am also going to make up a fruit bowl with cantaloupe and blueberries that are one sale this week to go with that blue and orange theme.

I like your idea, Kim. Brats are more up Milwaukee way, but I think I'll make either little smokies or wieners in crescent roll dough for the kids who might not like bbq beef.
I'll call them "Bear cubs in a blanket."
Go Bears!

I think Craig & Harmony are actually going to see the Bears play. They are high fiving all over the place whenever they see each other. Roll Eyes Big Grin
