Has anyone ever bought Aperol in the US? I got totally hooked on spritz con Aperol while we were in Italy and cannot seem to find Aperol in New Orleans.

This is, of course, thanks to Shannon and Chow Venice. And I took her advice and had one at the bar inside Florian - for a total of 3 euro.

Callie,
The last time we discussed Aperol (a search will find the thread) Ruth mentioned that although it wasn't currently imported into the US, plans were in the works to begin doing so in the near future.

I'm going to move this topic to the Food/Drinks forum. Martini

Thank Ruth, Callie. That's her tip!

It is impossible to find Aperol in the U.S. I've looked far and wide and asked guys in the liquor biz about it. Everyone says it was once available but has not been in a long time.

If you come to San Diego I'll make you a Spritz. Wink

Thanks Ruth. And I may show up in San Diego Shannon. I loved those spritz - had one everywhere I went. They would be the perfect summer drink here in New Orleans. Can you think of anything that I could substitute for the Aperol? Campari is just too bitter for me.

Campari recently bought the right to Aperol. On the Campari website, however, you don't find Aperol in the products section, but it is mentioned in the Campari Group report int he investor relations section. I presume that we will see Aperol shortly in the market (shortly in light of the fact that its been unavailable for at least 5 ot 6 years).
