and the temperature is below 40F (it's 5 degrees here in Vermont)- put them in the car overnight! All the better if you have a trunk, of course. An excellent suggestion for those with guests and no cold rooms from The Burlington Free Press's Debbie Salomon, who's still one of my local heroes even though she lives in Canada now.

If you DON'T have a trunk but have one of those long slanty windshields, take your goodies out tomorrow before the car catches to many rays, though.

Dorothy, that's the one thing I can't do since this year we had T-giving w/ my parents in Florida.

The night before T-giving we used to put the beer and soda out on the back deck too, to keep cold.

When I lived in the Rochester NY area I did it all the time.

Here in Florida, we use the neighbors fridge!!!

Well, I guess any crisis is over by now; but when I thought of all the ingenuity I squandered in other years protecting leftovers on the porch from racoons, I felt pretty dumb not to have thought of the car. Of course, station wagons don't have trunks, and by Christmas anything I put out there will freeze. The snow is a great way to chill champagne, though Angel
