I'm starting mine this morning and freezing tomorrow b/c we have a long ride on Sunday. I may have to end up hosting book club Sunday night, in which case I'm thinking this will go good with some apple cobbler or pie.

That's what I'm thinking, but so far all I have are cinnamon sticks Roll Eyes.

I made mine last night and froze it this morning.
I "rinsed" my spatula in my coffee cup this morning. Yummy rich cinnamon latte for breakfast. Wink

I know I say this every week...
but this is my favorite!
It is creamy and just a subtle flavor of cinnamon.
I think this one will be great with pumpkin pie for the holidays!

My mix is chilling right now... does the cinnamon flavor get stronger as it freezes? Next time I'd like to punch it up just a bit ...

The flavour is subtle. I made this one last week and the cinnamon flavour does get stronger but not to an overwhelming state.

There isn't anything subtle about mine, it's very strong. Maybe the cinnamon sticks were stronger, or maybe I broke them into more pieces that everyone else did.

I only broke mine in half. I was feeling quite lazy when I made this. Perhaps I should have just dumped in ground cinnamon! Happy

Here's the pic of it with some apple crumble pie. I was surprised that the colour wasn't darker like other cinnamon ice creams I've had. I wonder if it is because I didn't break the cinnamon sticks into tiny pieces . . .?

Jerry, I think that some food coloring may be used in some of those commercial cinnamon icecreams to give the color.
I wrapped my cinnamon sticks in a towel and cracked them with a meat mallot. I think that broke them into smaller pieces.
But my ice cream still didn't turn out dark.

I made a bowl out of a Merb's Bionic Apple to serve mine in. Bionic Apples are so huge this was a dessert for two for sure.

I punched mine up with calvados and some chocolate chips. The calvados made it kind of runny at first but the next day it was great.

So - this is definitely good with apple. Big Grin The chips were pretty good in it too.

Everyone's ice cream looks/sounds great! I've been in Seattle since Wednesday, and don't get back until tonight, so mine will have to wait until later this week or maybe even the weekend. I've been thinking that apple dumplings(apple encased in piecrust, filled with cinnamon syrup) would go really well with the ice cream--okay, I'm getting hungry!

Here is my cinnamon ice cream with my apple tart.

This is my second favorite, but I don't know how anything could ever top the salted butter caramel!

I know what you mean about the subtle flavor; when I tasted the custard after chilling for several hours, it hardly tasted like cinnamon, so I added 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon and put it back to chill. When we tasted the ice cream this morning, it definitely had a stronger cinnamon flavor, and David thought we should add more next time.

Deborah's comment about using the spatula for her morning coffee a few days ago made me think Sunday bruncn, so I made the apple pancake recipe from the August Cooking Light, cover picture. It was really good just a few minutes ago.

Marsha, that apple pancake looks luscious.

I had cinnamon latte again this morning. I just scooped the frozen ice cream in my cup. Of course I then had to nuke the coffee back to hot.

Jerry, a Merb's Bionic Apple is just one of those things you have to try to understand what all the fuss is about.

All I can say is that once you've had one, you will never enjoy a bland caramel apple made with red delicious apples and crushed peanuts again.

I've got pictures on my blog. And if you want to read more about them, do a google search for "Merb's Bionic Apple".

My ice cream did have some flecks of cinnamon in it. I was impressed with how creamy and smooth this one was.

Your apple tarts do look yummy!

This is definitely one of my top 3! Like Deborah, I used a meat mallet to break up the cinnamon, and mine has a fairly robust cinnamon flavor as well. I'm going to make an apple crisp tonight to serve with it, so I'll post the picture later.

I broke up my cinnamon sticks but not enough, I guess, because the there was not a very strong cinnamon taste.

To compensate for that, I sauteed some chopped pecans with butter and cinnamon and put those on top. It was good!
