You have just reminded me that I have subscribed to Kyle's newsletter. I received two or maybe three--I am not sure about the third one--some time ago and then nothing for many months, maybe a year. Kyle Philips also writes for About.com. I haven't checked recently, but the last time I did it appeared that he hadn't updated it for a long time. If I am not mistaken he lives in Florence. Over the years I have exchanged emails with him and he sounds like a very nice person.

will be travelling to italy in september. i have family in the turin area and would like to stay for awhile and get to know my roots. does anyone have any suggestions about lining up a job for the grape-olive harvest? web sites, emails, anything?

If you have family they will help you.
Usually you sign up at the agriculture cooperative or union hall.
There is the slow food conference outside Torino in October , called the Salon del Gusto,if you are a foodie
