Last week I received a frantic phone call from a friend. In just two days we were together hosting a small birthday luncheon and her assignment had been to order a cake from a local caterer. She had forgotten and the caterer was on vacation. I consulted one of my favorite food blogs, The Traveler's Lunchbox, and this is what I made - Lemon and Almond Torta - gorgeous and sinfully delicious. We served it with a raspberry puree as suggested in the article.
