I'm headed to Chicago this afternoon for a web design conference tomorrow ("Don't Make Me Think," it's called).

I'm going with a co-worker who asked me to choose the restaurant and we both agreed to blow our whole day's per diem and then some on dinner tonight. I chose RL. (Best balance of her steak and potatoes taste and my not-steak taste.)I'm very excited about the escargot, and I think I'll have the sea scallops for the main course.

I love escargot and have only had really excellent escargot once in this country - that was at Les Halles in NYC. Can't wait to check it out tonight!Yay for per diems

I'm back. The escargot was yummy but ultra rich. I normally sop up all the lovely butter afterwards but this was just too rich to do that.
The scallops were very good to, but so big a neighboring diner thought they were small crabcakes. I could only eat half of the six they served.
RL is a very posh restaurant. I was underdressed in my dark corduroy trousers and black knit top. My co-worker even more so in jeans. The men nearly all had on jackets and the ladies were dressed quite smartly as well.
I'd like to go back with my husband as the co-worker is more O'Charlies than Ralph Lauren and was clearly uncomfortable, and was uncomfortable to be around as well.
We struck up a conversation with the diners right next to us who were a lot of fun. They travel to Europe a lot so we had a great conversation with them.
