Hi! I have just discovered Italian wines and was hoping somebody could point out a few bottles to try. I am a student and hence my finances are very limited. Also,where in NYC can I find well priced Italian wines?

In New York, try a visit to Best Cellars, at 87th and Lexington. They specialize in wines that are around $15.00.

You can also visit Vino, they have a series of weekly wine tastings that are fun.

When you are ready to make a special purchase, definitely visit Italian Wine Merchant.

I am also a fan of Astor Wines & Spirits, they have a nice selection in the under $20 range.

and if you can go over to New Jersey (my old old slumping ground) visit Bertelli's at clifton.

i like any wine from Michele Chiarlo its available in the US; i met the owner in Miami also about 4 yrs ago....

Definitely get on Vino's mailing list then for their tastings and also Union Square Wines has tastings too. It's a great way to try a variety of wines, learn about them, and figure out what you like and don't like. Whenever I'm in the city on a Thursday or Friday I try to stop by Vino for a tasting.
