Judy, I noticed the recipe on your blog this morning - that's just the way my grandmother preserved figs. Brings back lovely memories.
Are you checking e-mails for your classes? I've been trying to book a cooking class in Florence in early October.

Bags packed... is your grandmother Italian? I really liked the lemon in the recipe. I have an Italian friend that produces chili peppers and she puts a little chili in!!! I like the kick! I have had problems that people are not recieving my emails!
It's the same ingredients as mine but a different technique. Mine was developed after a single sentence suggestion by a German friend whose granny made a fig conserve. Yours is much prettier, but I would hate not to have some of mine, too. I shall have to really scrounge figs to make both--- and yes, I also like some peperoncino in it.
No, she was born in the American south, of Scottish descent. Most of her recipes for fruit jams, preserves and conserves contain some lemon - I suppose for acidity and also to heighten flavor.
