As talked about on the Blogging forum here, a group of us are going to bake and blog from Dolce Italiano as well as other books on baking, and post results on Sundays.
Here's how it works. From the list below, each week a person picks a recipe from a book and we all bake it sometime that week. On Sundays we post the results on our blog. Now, there are some people who don't have a blog who would still like to participate, so they'll just post their results here. Here's the list:
Krista Deborah Colleen Palma Kim Jerry Marta Marcia Jan Angie Amy
If I missed anyone or if you'd like to join in, let me know.
We'll start on April 13th with my pick of Italian Crumbly Cake,Sbrisolona on page 82.
On April 20th, it will be Amy's turn to pick something. So, Amy, start thinking and post your pick on this thread.
Let the baking begin! -Krista

By my calculations, my turn comes on June 22nd. We will be in our rental apartment in Budapest on that day, and although the kitchen looks great, I'm not confident of my ability to buy the ingredients I may need.
Is there someone with an April or May week who can switch with me?

Deborah, since my turn is during Passover week, I'll switch with you if April 20th works for you. (If not, I'll be posting something most likely not from the book that's kosher for Passover. Experience the joys of trying to bake without flour or leavening! )
I note that my turn is right when we're in Italy. As much as I will enjoy blogging about this and that I doubt I'll be baking anything while away. I'd be happy to switch with someone sooner.

Looking at how far down that list I am, it is entirely possible I could actually have a blog by then . Perhaps I will actually look at a calendar later when I am not jet-foggy (another word for eating and drinking all weekend in Savannah).

Amy, did you see the Chocolate and Walnut Torte From Capri on page 92? It is flourless and suitable for Passover, not to mention the fact that it sounds incredible!
Thanks Amy, I'll be happy to trade with you. I'll take the 20th.
Since I'm crazy about anything pistachio, I'm choosing the "Sicilian Pistachio Cookies" as my recipe.
Has anyone told Gina we are doing this? She's in Italy now, isn't she?

Thanks Amy. Also, I want to point out that if you're going to be out of town when it's your week to pick the recipe, that might actually be a good thing. Here's why: if it's your turn to pick, you can decide way in advance what you want to do and bake it any time you want. You can even write up your blog entry and schedule it. Or, if you're posting on the forum, write up the text and just save it or even post ahead of time, we won't mind.
Ida, glad you are going to join it. You'll be right after Amy in the lineup.
Also, in case anyone missed it, Deborah has chosen Sicilian Pistachio Cookies for April 20th. Yum!
Okay - so let me make sure I get this, sometime between now and Sunday I need to bake the Italian Crumbly Cake and then post about it on my blog, right?
And if my calculations are correct, it looks like I go to bat on Mother's Day?
Hey - would it help if I update the top post with the dates each of us is responsible for and the selected recipe?
Krista - April 13 (Italian Crumbly Cake) Deborah - April 20 (Sicilian Pistachio Cookies) Colleen - April 27 (Babbo Breadsticks/grissini pg. 270) Palma - May 4 Jerry - May 11 (Biscotti di Limone e Semolino p.p. 50 - 51) Kim - May 18 (Hazelnut and Grape Tart) Marta - May 25 Marcia - June 1(Chocolate and Polenta Tart, page 154) Jan - June 8 Angie - June 15 Amy - June 22 (Strawberries in Chianti with Black Pepper Ricotta Cream, pg 219) Ida - June 29 (Citrus Glazed Polenta Cake, pg. 86) Teaberry - July 6
I think I got all those dates right, let me know if I need to change something. In case you noticed the name change... we were thinking, to make it more interesting, that we would pick one book to work through the list once - and then pick another book. Does that sound good to everyone?

OK, this is looking good. Even though I'm going to be in Budapest and Kotor during the last three weeks, I will take the recipes with me and PERHAPS I will be able to bake there. That would be fun.
So, the only thing I ask is, if possible, Angie, Amy, & Ida post their recipe choices before June. Is that OK?
I'm off to Trader Joes to buy my pistachios!

I would like to choose the Citrus Glazed Polenta Cake ( La Torta di Polenta con Agrumi), it's on page 86 of one of my many Italian cookbooks. This cookbook happens to be my favorite because it has so many recipes my mother used to make.
Also I have a problem with my date as I will be in Italy at that time...as a matter of fact I will be gone from Memorial weekend through July 10th ( 6 weeks ).
OK, so now I have 1/4 of a blog (that would be a title , and most of the ingredients for this recipe. I just realized that we will be away for more of this weekend than I first thought, so if I can get the baking done tomorrow morning, I will join you all, if not, next week.
I have a suggestion... Let's start a new thread each week. Sunday Slow Bakers Sunday Slow Bakers week 2 Sunday Slow Bakers week 3 etc. That way, we can make all the comments we want about each week's effort without having to constantly refer to which recipe we are discussing.
