We fell in love with this drink at Il Remigio in Venice. I'm not sure if I got the name right though. At Il Ritrovo, in Florence, I described the drink to Marco and he said it was called sorbetto and made us one. It was similar to the first one, but not quite as good. It was described as Prosecco, vodka and frozen lemon juice or Limoncello. Put it all in a blender and it comes out looking like frothy milk. It was heavenly..... anyone have a recipe??

Sgroppino!

Yum - one of my favorite things to drink! Martini
HERE is a recipe - when I've made it, I didn't use cream...
I think we've had some discussions of it on the board - yep, HERE is a link.

Thanks Colleen-- that's it! Too bad we've had a cold wave. I guess I'll wait for warmer weather and make a batch. Sounds like nobody on the board used the cream. Also, don't you think we could use champagne?

The reason the cream is used in the recipe from Ferrari's is that in Venice they use Lemon ice cream and not sorbet which is sugar and water based.

Deb,
Champagne should be fine. The recipe probably calls for Prosecco because it's the traditional sparkling wine of the Veneto, but Champagne or another sparkling wine would work, too!

Colleen is certainly right that you could use champagne, but our local wine store has prosecco, which is less expensive, generally, and I think a little less alcoholic, though hardly a factor with limoncello and vodka in the mix!

The SGROPPINO (digestive drink) is from venitian tradition (I'm from Venice myself but live in Umbria) RECIPE: put together in a blender prosecco, a little bit of vodka, lemon ice cream. Enjoy!! Best wishes Marina
