Hi everyone, I've been craving this strange Costa Rican . . . vegetable? Fruit? It's called a pejibaye--I think that's how it's spelled. It is a little, starchy, orange round thing, kind of like a potato, kind of sweet, it grows on trees . . . and I can't find any here! When we were on our honeymoon in CR, I had them in soup, with eggs, with shrimp--and man, they were delicious. Has anyone 1. heard of them or 2. seen them? if yes, then 3. how do I get them? Sheesh. Thanks! Mary Beth

Krista, you rock. I'll put in an order--I loved this soup made from them--I'll try to replicate it and see what happens. Thanks! They sound pretty elusive, right? Sneaky Costa Rican fruit. MB

Mary Beth, I understand your obsession. I fell in love with them on our trip in November.
Since you are ordering something, you should add Lizano sauce to your order. You can't cook respectable Tico Beans and Rice without it!
Deborah Horn In a previous life I was an Umbrian sunflower farmer. I want to do a past life regression and stay there. ----------------------------------- www.petsburg.com My blog: Old Shoes - New Trip
