I've been reading Ruth's (Boleskine) trip report about their stay in Venice, and she talks about their going to have espresso and kiefers almost every morning.

Can anyone tell me what a kiefer is?

Thanks!

I think what Ruth speaks of is kefir (sometimes spelled kefer) is a yoghurt like dairy product that is drinkable. One definition I found is here. Fruit flavored kefir is available in the dairy cases at most of the supermarkets in my area.

If The venetian product is something different, I hope someone will chime in..

Thanks, Kim. I stand (or, acutally, sit) corrected.
