Traditionally, my family has always had a zuppa di pesce on Christmas Eve, which I will make again as my father loves it.

However, my parents, at 77, will never travel to Italy and as we have them coming for Christmas this year, I want to make all the other fish items that are traditional in Italy. I know there is more but I don't know what they are.

So, per tutti mia Italiano amici, I need some advice and suggestions. My secondi is linguine with clams, shrimp, scallops, fish and calamari in a white wine sauce, so help me out beyond that one.

Grazie!!!

Colleen,

That's interesting but I was looking for more in depth recipes and foods.

Hopefully, some more will respond.

Doug - I was browsing the magazine rack at the grocery store this a.m. and looked at the December issue of a magazine that is called (Cooking of/Foods of) Italia -- an english language magazine. It had an article about La Vigilia with recipes and photos. If you can't find the magazine locally let me know and I'll pick one up and send it to you (your can send me a private email with address information).

My uncle's family was Barese, and I remember many Christmas Eves at their home eating what I remember as a child as being yucky fish stuff - including bacala. Wonder how it would taste to me as an aging adult....

Ah, Mother Judy, my family is Barese as well and we ate all kinds of stuff but NOT bacala as my father didn't like it, so....

I will find the magazine and I appreciate the offer. I get La Cucina Italiana and it has a lot as well but I love all the "traditional" stuff we all do.

Grazie paisano!!
