I first heard about sriracha on last season's Top Chef, when Casey added it to ice cream for the quickfire challenge - and made guest judge Govind Armstrong shudder!
While on the hunt for tamarind pulp for Pad Thai (details in another post!), I ran across sriracha sauce yesterday at 99 Ranch Market, and decided I wanted try it.
I've recently started using Sriracha and fear that I may be addicted. The smell makes my mouth water and I crave it while I'm eating it trying to think what my next snack or meal may be so I can have more! When I have consumed half a bottle I run out and get more for fear that I will run out and have seriously considered keeping a bottle in my purse just in case some place I might be eating may not have it.....I think I have a problem.
Now I'm a little nervous!! LOL I added it to my broccoli and cheese soup at lunch today, and have to say it's very tasty ... If you see me sneaking it into any foods at Slow Bowl, please just look the other way.

I love that stuff! I first had it at a Vietnamese restaurant that had a bottle of it on every table. It's good on everything (well, maybe not ice cream). I like it on scrambled eggs.
The latest issue of Food and Wine has a recipe for Spicy Sriracha Chicken Wings that I'm thinking about trying for our Super Bowl party.

Pokey -- I used to not like curry either, so always avoided Thai and Indian restaurants. Last night at dinner, my friend Melody ordered a mild yellow curry dish "for the table." I tried it - and I liked it! Mel's husband explained that everyone has a different recipe for curry ... so I don't know if I'll like it anywhere else!
Annie -- do you put sriracha on your oatmeal, as one chowhound poster does?? Funny, I just got back from buying some spices at the supermarket, and the sriracha shelf was completely empty! I guess there are addicts in my neighborhood.

Trader Joe's and Cost Plus has a good array of curry cooking sauces. Just saute some veges and some chicken, throw it over some TJ's brown or jasmine rice and you have a great meal.

BTW Sriracha chili sauce is a staple at our house!
