In the food courts at the local malls in my neck of the woods, there is always an Oriental food vendor offering a dish called "Bourbon Chicken." It's bite-sized pieces of boneless chicken that are either cooked or marinated or sauteed in some kind of sweet and savory sauce that I can't seem to eat enough of. Is anyone familiar with what I'm talking about, and does anyone have the recipe? Pig

Yes, this seems to be the hot new thing...all the oriental restaurants in the malls are handing out samples of bourbon chicken. Could this be related to the popularity of bourbon overseas?

And yes, I'd love to have a recipe for the sauce/marinade too!

I like the bourbon chicken too. At our mall it is actually served in the food court at a Cajun place (Cajun Cafe-- I checked the mall website), though it is run by Asian people and some of the food seems to be Asian too... like eggrolls and a lo mein-type dish.

So I googled on Cajun Cafe bourbon chicken and got a bunch of hits, all of which seem to be a copy of this recipe.

I also googled on just "bourbon chicken," and found this interesting piece on a cajun cooking site. Seems we are not the only ones who have been looking for this recipe!

Kathy!!!

What a riot - that Chuck Taggart piece was a real hoot! He really had me laughing in his opening lines, starting with the title ( Happy). I've never seen it called Cajun chicken, but that could just be a regional thing.

The recipe you included sounds like it may be the answer - sweet, sticky, marinated, soy. I'm printing it and trying it soon. Thank you sooooooo much! Joanna's Dancing Man
