This was at my Trader Joe's yesterday rightup front. It being so hot here I bought a few bottles and cooled them down for dinner. It was really a nice light wine on a hot night; the slight fizziness reminded us of the white wines of the Cinque Terre that we tasted in the spring.
And I hate to even say this, it was $3.99/bottle.
Today I bought 4 more.

Marcia,
Thanks so much for the review! I also bought a bottle of the frizzante when I was at TJ's last week, but haven't sampled it yet. Did you try the "regular" Pinot Grigio from the same producer?

Both bottles are now chilling in my overworked refrigerator (can you believe this heat??) - one or the other will get opened tonight. Cool

What part of California do you live in?

Hi Nancy,
I'm up in San Jose - "the heart of Silicon Valley" ... so they say. Big Grin

I tried the Pinot Grigio frizzante last night - very nice! Refreshing and light.

One of my favorite whites during summertime is another "cheapie" ($3.99/bottle) from Cost Plus. Rene Barbier "Mediterranean White, Catalunya." I think it's from Spain. (I usually have a couple bottles on hand, but don't have any right now; I took them all to a pool party over the weekend.) It's very light, crisp, and dry - perfect for sipping on a hot afternoon or evening.

Colleen,
Glad to hear you liked the frizzante. Sometimes when I find things like that I wonder if it's just my not-so-finely-tuned palate. I still have 4 bottles - it was just too hot last night to even want to open the bottles.

It is never EVER too hot for me to open a bottle of wine! Especially a nice cool frizzante!

I guess I am addicted - but in a good way!

Nancy,
You're right about the heat and wine - we were in Sacramento last night visiting our son, had dinner with him at a small Italian place near his house, and the three of us did in 2 chilled bottles of pinot grigio! Must have just been an off-night the other day Wink
